Replacement for the Tivo

Hi after many years of excellent service my Tivo has developed a fault.
I've followed in years gone by the threads on suitable replacements, which seemed to suggest that there wasn't anything.
Has that position now changed?
The UI is going to be absolutely key as the whole family love the TiVo interface.
We can probably compromise on the features though if necessary.

Am I better off going for Sky + or Sky HD?
Or should I get a Topfield or even a Windows based Media Center PC?

Or I guess is it worth getting the Tivo repaired!

Re: Replacement for the Tivo

Sadly, nothing replaces the Tivo

I have mine controlling my Sky HD

You might want to post what has gone wrong with your over onthe TiVo forum:

It might well be repairable. Actually, most TiVo problems are - it's just a matter of whether it's a cheap fix or not...

Re: Replacement for the Tivo

9 times out of 10 (ish ) any problems with TiVo are down to the HDD. A quick and easy replacement of the HDD may well sort out the problems you are having . I have replaced the HDD in mine twice due to the unit locking up, showing an error screen or rebooting itself. The new HDD has always solved the problems.

What is the problem?

Mark.
