Sky Movies. No Watershed?

So I'm sat at the PC, and I glance at some crap that's on Sky Movies, and I see boobies!! women's boobies... with nipples!!! it's only 4:20pm.

this is the second time, the first was in some Pacino film, Bobby Deerfield.

Are Sky Movies exempt from a watershed type rule? I mean, boobs and nipples mid afternoon, is that allowed?

I think because it is a subscription channel it doesn't fall under normal regulations, I think they have a volountary 8 0'clock watershed instead of the usual 9o'clock. As for boobs and nipples I don't think they fall under the regulations now anyway do they? I thought they had softened the rules in this area - you can get nipples on tv adverts now.

When I was living out in America I was amazed to find that you would get films like Alien on the movie channels (HBO & Showtime) in the middle of the afternoon - they had no regulations at all.

We were visiting relatives in Spain and one of the cable channels was called Showtime Extreme. They had Braindead on at 9 o'clock on a Monday morning followed by 18 rated stuff for the rest of the day.

That is a bit OTT.

Cool

I too was thinking this the other day I was watching a channel where a blokes head was splattered on a wall.
This was about 13:00.

Like 24 hour pub opening times... it bloody well should be.

In fact, it should be compulsory.

haha, well I have no problem with it, I just thought we had rules, ya know, to 'protect children' and all that.

Like the US, Canadian TV has no real watershed. I think the main reason for this in both countries is the time difference from the East Coast to West coast. I can get up early in the morning in Newfoundland and watch the end of a midnight movie from Vancouver. With the advent of satellite, regional channels from across the country are even more accessible.

In order to have a proper watershed, they would have to scrap regional channels, and the Hockey fans wouldn't stand for that.

Speaking of Sky, I think it would be great to waive the watershed for Sky Movies, because due to their limited movie library, they end up showing childrens movies all day and you only get a few good movies in the night when all the good TV is on.

"You're watching an encrypted film channel with an 8 o'clock watershed, not 9.00."

Quite annoying. Watching Airplane last night on Sky Movies, was on at about midnight, but they still cut out all the drug references (sniffing glue, amphetamines, old lady snorting lines) and now come to think of it, I don't rememeber seeing the random topless woman run into shot either.

They never used to cut this movie. I would have at least thought they have a cut version for earlier showings and uncut one for later if it is bothering people.

Annoying.
