Thunderbirds are go - in HD!!

Seems the Sci Fi channel is having a bit of a Gerry Anderson splurge this weekend.
On Friday, they're showing Joe 90, Stingray and Thunderbirds - and it seems that Thunderbirds is being shown in HD!
Friday 12.10 is the time - it's the Fireflash pilot as well so looking good for the whole lot in HD as well..

Re: Thunderbirds are go - in HD!!

I wonder if they will be the cropped widescreen () or original 4:3 versions in HD.

Not sure...haven't seen the Blu-rays but would imagine they will be the same...wonder how long it'll be before somebody complains about the side bars if it is the OAR...

Yeah there are those who are not happy unless the whole screen is filled even if that means cropping the original picture and those who believe it's OAR or nothing

I tend to be in the latter group.

I'll give the Scifi broadcasts a go, I have to say that channel is the most improved of the well, century

Re: Thunderbirds are go - in HD!!

Yep - OAR for me as well.
I had a problem with Sanctuary on SF HD - the lip sync was actually BEHIND - so if I added delay, it made it worse.
Watched a couple last night and they seemed to have sorted 2 mins into one of them...the screen went black and when it came back, it was in sync. (It was one when the vampires were after Amanda Tapping...) Haven't watched any since but I live in hope.

Candidate for most improved channel has to be Disney Cinemagic HD - if they got rid of that damned logo then I would watch everything.

Anyway - back on topic...5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1...you know the rest...

Re: Thunderbirds are go - in HD!!

Ok, the cropped versions may be the only ones they are supplied with so I give them some (not a lot) of slack there but what's with the continued 4:3 safe DOG?
A quick comparison with a few other ScifHD shows on the planner and it's even further into the 4:3 safe zone than actual 16:9 and 4:3 native content.

I noticed that with Sanctuary - I watched it on my PJ the other night (NOT IN my PJ's...) and the DOG was 3 foot in from the left and 18 inches down the screen...no more SF HD on a 92" screen...
