NBC's modern-day series about a hero who rises to become the King of his nation, based on the biblical story of King David.

Its got some mixed reviews so far. The 2hr premier starts 15th March.

Episode: Goliath (2hr)

King Silas Benjamin (Ian McShane) leader off Gilboa, which is at war with neighboring Gath all set in a alternate universe. In this pilot there's no back story, we're thrown in the middle off a war. Along comes David Shepherd, a solider, a savour, or enemy to the King, its not decided yet. David vs Goliath you get the picture.

Good characters, the story is enjoyable, looks and sounds great, without offering anything new. King Silas Benjamin is all smiles, but underneath a treacherous, brutal uncaring man, only power being his one motive. Its about loyalty, betrayal, love and war. Its all melodramatic, McShane prophecising and sometimes hammy, but for some reason riveting to see what happens next, and stick around for that crowning off an ending. Long live the King?, not if his inner enemies have a say! 7.9/10

Loved this opening double-ep, hope it's not pulled prematurely (this 13 ep 1st season is all planned out apparently)

Episode 2 - Prosperity

Fate, destiny and signs are the elements used to advance the plot in this series. Michelle Benjamin, she reminds me off a young Kirsten Dunst.

I think this was better than the 1st double bill. 8/10

Episode 4 - Insurrection

Another good episode. Bit confused by King Silas's right hand military man, at the end saying his king has gone soft,
when the king is ruthless, and i cant see the king's successor being more so. 8/10

Just caught up. Watched all five episodes so far (all last night

) It’s so nice to have a new type of program on our screens. So refreshing.

It’s unusual for us as an audience to get so much to chew on In the first episode, never mind the other four. Things seem to move fast in the world of the King. Only 5 episodes in and his army dude wants to kill him.

I find it really hard to suss out the King, sometimes he is “good” and sometimes he is “bad”. Everyone else I’ve sussed out.

I do keep wondering what the King’s Daughters vow is…?

PS, the CGI is quite poor. But thats forgivable with such brilliant writing/acting.

Have you seen Sons of Anarchy - FX, if not, its great, see if you can watch all 13 episodes in a day, before season 2 later this year

Well E01 & E02 aired together. But I've seen E05, so all episodes so far.

I'm not surprised this show is in danger of being cancelled, it's completely different to the typical American program. But it was a refreshing break nonetheless.

The first episode was listed by most sites as 1&2 and following episodes were numbered +1.

Episode 6 or 7: Brotherhood depends what format your following..

Great episode, as the two boys go on mission with war paint to the Gath woods. 8.9/10

One thing i thought about when they showed previous highlights, was when the Doctor was sentenced by King Silas for wrongful killing, why did the Doctor just not give up the King for having an affair and they boy was his....

A very dark episode and creepy, the King is hearing music and a blood contract needs paying. - 8.9/10

s01e09 - LOL. the pictures are out, and the gay dvd.

Watch the family implode. The gay is marrying the bitch, and the king can trust no one, and will burn David. This is excellent

Great 2 eps. Gutted they are cancelling it

Episode 8/9: Pilgrimage - 8.9/10

Great episode, again, never does it bore. Some nice twists, as the brother and sister get a lifeline, only for the truth to anger the king.

@Singh400, english - yes, Saffron Burrows played the Angel of Death in ep8. She played the head shrink, Dr. Norah Skinner, in series 'My Own Worst Enemy', along side Christian Slater.
