Re: Harper's Island (US pace with Spoilers)

Episode 1: Whap

I liked it, it's the first episode, so its more off a build up as the guests arrive to the Island for the marriage off Trish Wellington and Henry Dunn, but there is still enough here in terms off interesting characters & murders in the pilot, a whodunnit with horror elements.

Supernatural series fans will be please to see Katie Cassidy (Ruby), though i preferred the blonde hair, and also Jim Beaver (Bobby Singer) playing their parts in this murder mystery chiller. I look forward to the next episode. 8/10

I knew Bobby was in it but didn't recognize Kate which is a shock as i loved her as Ruby in supernatural.

It was an ok start seeing as they were just really introducing characters to us. Will watch the full 13 eps i'm pegging the kid as the killer well maybe not but she is a little freaky.

I knew their was a reason I liked her

As for the first episode it was solid but uninspiring and well so far I'm rooting for the killer because atm there is not many characters you want to cheer on especially the blondies whose relationship I simply can not yet understand so must die in a spectacular fashion

Re: Harper's Island (US pace with Spoilers)

just saw this interview with katie cassidy...

really liked the premiere....and I too am rooting for the killer...kind like the way I am with horror movies, i'm interested in seeing how the killer is going to attack..plus i still have no clue as to who the killer is.

Re: Harper's Island (US pace with Spoilers)

In case anyone didn't see the 2nd episode...cbs struck a deal with youtube, the episodes will now be posted there as well..

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

I thought it was a great follow up to the premiere..wonder whats going to happen when people start to realize other people are dying.

I get this:
This video is not available in your country.

... but then I'm happy to continue watching by the usual means

Thanks for the heads up on this, really like the genre and there is not enough around in my opinion.

Change of pace from Lewis or Morse etc

Re: Harper's Island (US pace with Spoilers)

The killing spree continues and well does anyone really stand out as an obvious mass-murderer
Plenty of people you could quite easily accept them knocking off one or two or doing something worthy of being killed.

Great scene with the feathers and oh my was Trish smoking hot in the changing room and somehow I can not see her being faithful assuming the wedding goes ahead or she or Henry survive

Re: Harper's Island (US pace with Spoilers)

I couldn't quite accept the actions of the guys after finding the boat, yes Malcolm needs cash but come on. The stripper was funny and exactly how small is Harpers Island anyway and is there the business for a local gel to perform without knowing or her parents knowing the leering guys (and girls).

Re: Harper's Island (US pace with Spoilers)

Episode 5: Thwack

Another solid episode, a trip in the woods ends up them seeing 2 dogs. And a ending straight out off the SAW films 8.3/10

The only problem was details, with the bike accident, you would go and see what caused it, no instead they decide to walk in another direction.
When Henry gets told off the accident, a normal person would ask questions, what type off accident?, again no, lets talk about something else

We know Abby? (the sheriffs daughter) does not die, as she narates the intro about the current killings, unless they change that sometime.

Re: Harper's Island (US pace with Spoilers)

Looks like it's being pulled ... this was posted at a certain site a few days ago
Quote:
CBS’ ratings-challenged murder mystery series has been put on hiatus for next weekend. The network is replacing Harper’s Island with a rerun of the popular Mentalist series.

For now, it looks like Island will return the following Saturday night on May 23rd in its (now) regular timeslot. Could this be a bad omen that CBS won’t end up airing all of the remaining eight episodes? Possibly. The show’s first Saturday outing attracted just 4.65 million viewers and a 1.0/3 rating share of the 18-49 demographic. That’s about what the network usually gets for its Saturday night repeats. One would hope that the network would just go ahead and let the season finish.

Will the show be back next year with another mystery? Almost certainly not.

Yeah, I thought that too. You'd at least have a look to see what happened, see if the bikes are servicable and then walk back the way you came.

And they didn't seem bothered that a bloke set his dog on them, and they'd seen the dog belonging to someone who's supposed to have gone back to the mainland.

I can't really see that it would be able to get a second series, that would be stretching things a bit too much to have similar circumstances happen to the survivors again. But I do hope they show the rest of the episodes rather than leave us hanging.

Episode 6: Sploosh

Probably the best episode so far. Continues on from that horrific moment in the church and now everyone knows there is a killer on the Island, the Sheriff is trying to find out who is committing the Wakefield copycat murders, even he is under suspicion from his own daughter. And do we glimpse the killer in this episode.... 8.7/10

It was good, the paranoia ontop of the quite graphic violence is working very well and somehow they slipped in some humour with the ring but what is it about that couple they are just so wrong

Episode 7: Thrack, Splack, Sizzle - 7.9/10

Good episode, back story time about Abby's past, and we did not see the killer last week as that figure had something to say to Abbey, and some one is 'hot' on the heels off Malcolm and the stolen money. And who is the mystery person who wrote the note...

.

Re: Harper's Island (US pace with Spoilers)

You never stand infront of a furnace when there is a mad killer on the loose or for that matter turn your back on a dark and gloomy basement

I'm still not sure about the almost supernatural element at play with the young girl but the flashback worked quite well filling in a lot of background.

Good episode, and a good end. That drowned looking white rat dog thingy looks like it could be the killer. 8/10
