Neet 1x2 Port HDMI SMART MINI SPLITTER BOX

I need to send the HDMI signal , from my SKY HD, upstairs as well as to my lounge. I have purchased a Neet 1x2 Port HDMI SMART MINI SPLITTER BOX. I have read that by using this box you do not lose picture quality.

Is this true?

I hope so as I have spent quite a bit of money on cables etc.

Thanks

Ark Angel

Re: Neet 1x2 Port HDMI SMART MINI SPLITTER BOX

I was also looking at this device. Looks good. But I am after a 3 way splitter to send the output of my HD box to three TV's. Anyone have any suggestions?

I use one to split the signal from my PS3 to my TV via a 2m HDMI cable & to my HD80 projector via a 9m cable and have no problems at all.

I can even have both displays on at the same time @ 1080p without any problems.

Rich.

I too have just bought one and its brilliant - no loss that I can see and its tiny - really tiny!

It powers itself from the cables so no need for a power supply (although I was sent one just incase)

Bought mine off ebay and they couldnt have been more helpful!

Re: Neet 1x2 Port HDMI SMART MINI SPLITTER BOX

I would like to know whether this sending of HDMI (not necessarily anything to do with the splitter) works well over distances, as I have read that you can lose quality over distance with HDMI and, thus, it is only really meant for shorter runs (shorter not defined in action metres!).

Generally, for runs of 20 to 25 metres (for things like Optical and VGA cables) I have bought good quality cables from Lindy and I have never had any troubles. I've not tried running HDMI that long, but I did notice their Premium Gold cables seem to top out at 15 metres. They have other HDMI cables that go to 20 metres.

Be good to know the length you're running and the results. Rich G does mention 9 metres below with no loss.

Cheers, DpM

Re: Neet 1x2 Port HDMI SMART MINI SPLITTER BOX

Try using an Neet HDMI Balun - it converts the signal so that you can use Cat5/6 instead of an HDMI cable and converts it back to HDMI at the other end.

Mine travels just on 30m. No loss and this is viewed on an 8ft wide screen from a 1080p projector!

Perfect!

Cat5/6 is waaaaayyy cheaper than an HDMI cable of the same length.

Does not carry 5.1 (Sky box only outputs 2.0 over HDMI) but there are other cheap solutions for audio.

Do a search on Balun and you should find a wealth of info here on AVForums.

Here are the Baluns mentioned

HDMI Cable EXTENDER 60m Cat5 Cat5e Cat6 BALUNâ—„1080p HDâ–º on eBay, also, Video Cables, TV Accessories, Consumer Electronics (end time 10-Feb-09 19:48:06 GMT)

They are way cheaper than most HDMI over Cat 5/6 I have used in the past

Re: Neet 1x2 Port HDMI SMART MINI SPLITTER BOX

I have the little Neet splitter coming from my V+ - output 1 to the TV in the lounge, output 2 via 15m HDMI cable from Ivuna HDMI Cable with no problems.
I'm not even using the PSU plug for the splitter!
fantastic little gadget

Only issue i've noticed is at point of switching on!/ Its 'syncs' it's signal with the TV (Output channel) that is turned on & ready to receive only.

e.g. TV1 is on - TV2 is off = When HDMI source output turns on, it will sync and output to TV1 only.

If you then want to watch TV2 as well, you would have to turn off the HDMI source. Have both TV1 & TV2 ready to receive, then turn back on the HDMI source. The unit will then 'sync' & output to both channels.
