Cannot recommend this enough, really funny and the characters are great.

As the BD is not coming out till June, even though the DVD is already out (and you don't want to go down the torrent way) this is a good time to see it in HD.

Also has a very long list of quotable lines!

I'll add my recommendation to this. Watched over Xmas and thought it was absolutely superb..... more so as it is based on true events.

Edit - Actually I'd say this is a 'must see' programme.

Is the HD version repeated at all?

I have Shameless on C4 HD and Battlestar Galactica from Sky 1 HD already in my planner at that time.

I watched the 1st episode on Sunday in SD,& loved it so much that I'm watching it again in HD.
I think the Sergeant Major with his obsession about 'grooming standards' is fantastic.

and the scariest bit? What we see in the mini-series is a fairly accurate reflection of what actually happened, with Capt America truly such an idiot

From what I have read - this is much more like the events that happened - lots of sitting around followed by manic bursts of terrifying contact.

I actually like when nothing is happening. Just the stuff they say is brilliant. The action in some episodes can be a little short or sparse but not all missions are hours long!
They do this attack on an airfield and I love the way it's been shot!

If you want another book recommendation then get "The Making of an Officer" by Nate Fick. He is the one in charge of Hitman group. Very intersting read, it's just about this war but other missions he has been on.
On a few other forums and such it has been mentioned that the actor playing Brad "Iceman" Colbert might make a good Captain America. Think about it when you see him!

Also reality fans, Rudy Reyes, as in "it doesn't make you gay if you think Rudy is hot, we all do!". Is the real Rudy Reyes.

No real "action" until near the end of episode 2.

Still a great watch though, they must leave 2 episodes to show the frustration of a marine whos in a war zone, but can't really get in the action.

And its prolly so we can get to like/dislike the characters.

They never have ads on FXHD in their programmes.

Really been enjoying this series, the creators have done a great job of making such a captivating show about war without actually showing much in the way of combat

Surprised that no one from First Recon has put Capt America out of his misery yet tho!

Just been announced that the BD set will be out on 16th June in the US. It will have DTS-HD, 1080p and some Blu only extras.
