The worst Bond film has to be the remake of Thunderball - Never Say Never Again.

Although the blue screen work in Die Another Day might make me reconsider (and that ridiculous invisible car).

Did you notice the strings on the bomber when it was crashing into the sea?

It had one redeeming feature which was Luciana Paluzzi fresh from her role with the other spy guy the year before, Napoleon Solo in To Trap A Spy. After arriving home together she ask of Solo “what shall I change into”. Solo “anything but a boy”.

So what do you think is the worst Bond?

Having watched them all in order in a two week run lately (college lecturer, long holidays, life's a bitch!) I would give the title to "Man With the Golden Gun" followed closely by "Live and Let Die".

Cool

I think Moonraker just pips Man With the Golden Gun to the post for me. It could have been so much better but they made it a farce.

Octopussy was definitely one of my least favorites. Moore was too old. The movie just didn't flow that well and many of the actors were just wooden (plus that stupid Woodouse reference "Siii-IITT" with the tiger).
Never Say Never Again, strange 'cause after seeing it, you though, please Sean, Never Again (as Bond).

Cool

I was keeping my comments to the main Bond films but in ‘Diamonds are Forever’ Sean was looking his age and looked to have put some weight on. Surprisingly Roger Moore came along in the next Bond film and looked much younger (he is actually older than Sean). So I thought ‘Never Say Never Again’ was one too many Bond film for Sean.
Off the main Bond films I did not like Casino Royal as a Bond film but as spoof it was not too bad.

I don't regard 'Never Say Never Again' as a true Bond film, though if I did it would be my least favourite. That (dis)honour among true Bond flicks goes to 'The World is not Enough'.

I remember Pierce Brosnan in an interview being asked the question "What do you think makes Bond films so popular?" Pierce's theory was that the audience liked the idea that every Bond film is pretty much the same - guns, girls, explosions, exciting escape set pieces. The audience knew what to expect and all those things together made a good film.

I think the interview was done when TWINE was released, and at the time I agreed. However, having seen Die Another Day this tactic of sticking to the Bond formula isn't going to last long.

Did anyone really care about any of the characters in Die Another Day? It just seemed like someone had just thought of a few set pieces and strung them together no matter how ridiculous the plot.

Dear Bond film makers,
Give us a decent story with characters we care about and then kill a few of them to get us interested.
Make Bond more human (make him suffer or something).
We like gadgets, but it's not the be all and end all of Bond. No more invisible cars.
Give us an exciting end to the film with real stunts - no CGI planes (The Living Daylights had an excellent ending)
One more thing - guaranteed when the next Bond film is released the next Bond Girl will bang on about how she's not like all the previous Bond Girls. Her character is independent, strong and is Bond's equal - every single Bond Girl says it and its getting very boring.

Do I detect an other to join the band of Living Daylight big fans?

Die Another Day although not the worst Bind film made me say if the next one is directed by the same fellow in all probability I will not be going to the pictures to see it. And the story started out with so much promise.

It is one of my favourites. Maybe it's because it was the first one I watched at the cinema but it did have all the right elements (with an interesting plot and characters holding them together).
And Necros is easily the best henchman there's been in recent years (that's not including henchwoman/Bond Girl Xenia Onnatopp).

Must say I did enjoy the Dalton take on Bond, especially License to Kill - a real hard as nails Bond movie with almost all the things Rich1978 mentioned.

Must admit to a real liking for Casino Royale, a mad movie that could only have been made in the '60s.

Anyone know if the recurring rumours are true that Broccolli and Wilson have obtained the rights to the novel and plan to film it with Brosnan?
