Bob Hope has passed away. Lived to be 100 and in all fairness cinema, TV, comedy and even occasionally singing...

The guy was an absolute legend

I spent some many a happy hour watching his film. Born in London, England too.
A sad loss.

But to many people under 50 he was famous for being Bob Hope and for being Bing Crosby's golfing partner - not for being especially funny - remember the infamous Albert Hall Miss World competition?

Thats the problem with living to such an advanced age - you become a legend because its an easy label rather than being someone with any relevance to the present day.

I'm glad he made it to 100 but I cant say - how sad, we'll miss him, because his humour and style of performance is stuck in the pre 1960s world.

Dont want to sound harsh, but feel this is more honest than saying - a legend and thanks for the memories...

Like any other famous person, he had his hayday, and i never personally liked his 2 man act with Crosby. Give me 'The Lemon Drop Kid' and the Painless Potter films.

Yes the Paleface and the Son of Paleface were amongst his best I practically liked ‘The Great Lover’ in 1949 with Rhonda Fleming.

Don't forget "The Ghostbreakers". Just got it on R1 - excellent comedy/horror movie. Still funny as well as atmospheric and creepy too. Anyone know if his version of "The Cat and the Canary" is available on DVD?
