Does anybody know or has seen this cartoon series that was first shown on BBC3, if so is it any good and what is it about? It is on BBC2 tonight at 11.20.

It's on the album 'Soul Jacker', which is one of my favourite albums.

Eels never seem to get the recognition they deserve, I reckon.

Anyone here watch Monkey Dust?

I do and it is Funny as Hell.

Shame BBC UK has not made DVDs of Season 1 and 2 yet.

I wonder if they plan to make a Third Season?

Cool

Great series and some great characters I like Ivan the meat safe murderer. Did you see what Mr Hoppy had for horns when it was mad of parts from the wardens?

Cool

I was just surfing round the channels last week and found they has started a new series of this, and what I saw was the funnies yet, it was not the normal humour that has you smiling, it was laughing out loud stuff. And the return of Ivan Dobsky with Hollywood’s version of him was spot on.

If you did not know it is on BBC3 tonight at 9.30.

It is wickedly funny and a very, very necessary part of the BBC schedule. I hope they let it run for a couple of more seasons at least.

We need more intelligent, grown-up comedy like this on TV. Be it animated or live-action.

Well, a similar live-action version of Monkey Dust - Brass Eye - was banned/canned, iirc. All those numbskull Daily Mailers out there just didn't "get" it

Similar situation in the US - they can only tolerate uncomfortably accurate social commentary if the truth is "cartoonified" i.e. The Simpsons.

Really warms my heart to see the BBC do it. License money well spent

Hi,

For anyone that's interested, Season 1 of "Monkey Dust" was released uncut on DVD in December 2004!

It's only a "15" certificate, which is quite lenient considering some of the very dark and adult material it deals with; all six episodes, uncut and uncensored; includes each episode on 16:9 widescreen, but has no extras whatsoever! Bad BBC! Very bad!

Top series. It's DD5.1 as well - sounds v good for a tv show. The only extra is a commentary track.

I do not think it is as I missed the begining of last weeks and looked for a repeat and never saw on. They will be on the BBC before long no doubt and again on BBC3.

Been a fan of Monkey Dust for some time now, and i have to say that i've been a little dispponited with season 3 so far (although the last nights was a vast improvement on the season opener.)

being a West Brom fan "the brummie terrorists" really crack me up (and are a constant source of humour in my house.) I also think that Ivan Dobsky peaked with the "Jon Swoon" and "Denise Bingley" stories in season 2 which were so funny the only way is down, and whats happened to Clive Pringle!!!

Great to hear! But as much as I'm looking forward to this DVD, I expect the price to drop on Play in a few months. Hopefully, I can hold out until it does.

Unhappy Re: Monkey Dust

Hi,

Alas, due to lots of copyright issues (who owns what parts of the actual animations/clips), licensing issues (music), and other contractual obligations (the rights to the show as a whole), no further DVD releases of MONKEY DUST are ever going to be released.

Basically, there are too many fingers in the pie, all wanting their cut, and the Beeb is refusing to play ball with everyone.

Plus, just to make matters worse, the program's rights-owner is no longer with us - that is, he's passed away a few years ago - and as such, until his estate allow the Beeb to go ahead with a release (providing they cough-up the right amount of money), the show's dead in the water.

i think the "Brummie Terrorists" alone will stop this from being released after 7/7.

Re: Monkey Dust

It's a real shame, this is one of my favourite shows. This really deserves a DVD release. I'd be willing to spend a lot of money on a boxset. You can watch them all on YouTube but the quality is pretty poor.

"Clive, where have been Clive?"

"I'm Ian Dobsky, the meatsafe murderer"

i could go on about Monkey Dust all day - one of the best shows of the last 10 years IMO.
