California Highways (old 70's series)

I remember watching it in the school summer holidays. I also remember some of the theme tune, and vague images of typical 70's west coast stuff - surf-boards, tanned babes, etc. Trouble is i cant remember exactly what it was about, and cant find anything on the net.

anyone else remember it?.

Dean

You talking about CHiPs? Two motorcycle cops who rode around busting crime and saving the city from the bad guys.

I remember Erik Estrada was the coloured guy, and I think the white guy was called Larry something. I'm sure a search on the series name would turn up plenty of info though.

Cool

I think that was more the 50’s and definitely did not have, surf-boards, tanned babes, etc.
I was thinking more of Route 66 but that was the 60’s that had a brilliant them tune by Nelson Riddle which I have been looking for but cannot find..

No its not that either. One thing i do remember is that it was shown about the same time in this country as a series called 'Big Blue Marble' - which there is plenty of info on.

Cool

Which channel was it shown on? As if it was ITV it may not have been transmitted in all the regions.

Was it not "California Dreaming"?????

Sort of series set in California with surfer dudes and not much happened per episode if I remember rightly!!!

Theme tune goes along the lines of:

"Maybe it's the water, maybe it's the air, maybe it's the sunlight that gets in your hair, maybe it's the ladies and the clothes that they wear, I don't know, I don't care, I just gotta be there, California here I am and I love you, I go the fever for you etc."

Garrett

i think it was on ITV

jmcr100

i found that one as well, but the theme tune is wrong - words from the song i remember where

"California highways, they're taking me back home right back where i belong.............down from San Francisco......"

Thats mostly what i remember. I also think the series was likely to have been some kind of documentary. If it had been a 'show', like the ones suggested, i think i'd have remembered it better.
