The Devil's Whore - English Civil War Drama

Anyone seen any previews for The Devil's Whore - a new four part drama set during the Englsih Civil War? It is starting on Channel 4 next Wednesday - if it hadn't been flagged up in the Digiguide highlights e-mail I would have missed it.

A small amount of info is available in the Digiguide library.

Quote:
This new four-part drama tells the epic story of the English Civil War through the eyes of Angelica Fanshawe (Andrea Riseborough, pictured). She's a spirited aristocratic woman who is drawn to the anti-monarchist cause at a time when England dared to execute its King and search for an alternative means of government.

Created and written by Martine Brant and Bafta-winning playwright Peter Flannery, it's a story not just of political and historical significance, but of love, loss, murder, courage and betrayal. The production also stars John Simm, Dominic West and Peter Capaldi.

Angelica Fanshawe is born in 1623, when England is divided both politically and religiously, a time when political disobedience turned to revolution and civil war, and English history changed forever. It is the start of a road that will change inexorably not only Angelica's life, but all of those with whom she comes into contact, including the most important figures of this tumultuous time.

Ahead of her lies unaccustomed poverty, tragedy and triumph, love and loss on an unimaginable scale. For England, the future is equally radical. Village will fight against village, brother against brother, as the nation is torn apart. Friendships will be tested and loyalties broken, even among those in command, and on the same side. The drama has only just begun to play out.

A great title, never would have considered it the headline for a civil war drama and I can't be bothered to watch a pointless footy friendly in SD or via the PC in HD

You couldn't drag me infront of the usual by the book BBC costume dramas but this CH4 offering featuring the Cavalier and Roundheads kicking off was quite a decent watch. Ok the main character Angelica isn't exactly the type to generate a warm fuzzy feeling so she kinda deserves everything she gets but lets see how it pans out as she leaves behind her formal life.
What little we saw of Edward was welcome, Simms has the ability to fill the screen

Off topic for this thread but poor interior HD shots
