CSI Miami

I only have Freeview and have recently purchased a new LCD TV. I am constantly changing settings from programme to programme.

My perhaps stupid question is why does CSI Miami (CH5), which I have just watched, seem to have an excellent picture whilst CSI (and most other programmes) which follows on has an inferior quality picture.

Yes, sorry I edited my original post. I can always (subjectively) see a higher quality (colours/focus) picture with CSI Miami regardless of channel - Sometimes watch it on Five US.

I know its not, but to my eyes its like CSI Miami is HD compared to other programmes on the same (and other channels).

It has always been the best quality of any non HD show - probably because of the light, or rather the the type of light, the show is filmed under.

Try watching True Lies next time it's on Freeview - the parts filmed around Miami will appear to be better quality.

Perhaps encoding algorithms can handle such scenes more easily and hence produce a better picture.

Thanks for the reply - I thought I was beginning to imagine things.
