Little Doritt (2008)

Im enjoying this as with all BBC dramas, and being 14 parts should have alot of depth. Andy Serkis as Rigaud is a nasty man, think he's is italian or french, a cold blooded killer.

Matthew Macfadyen ex spooks star plays Arthur Clennam. Claire Foy as Amy Doritt.
Also Eve Myles (Gwen, Torchwood) playing a woman with a mental age of 5, to finish the Dr Who connection Freema Agyeman, as Tattycoram

Re: Little Doritt (2008)

What are the schedulers doing with Little D?

So far, it's been on Sunday, Thursday and then Wednesday!

Even the episodes aren't all the same length.

And as for repeats...

Mrs TG is trying to follow the story, but I keep getting blamed when she misses an episode.

Re: Little Doritt (2008)

It's surprising that Ms Wade, the villainous lesbian in Little Dorrit with sinister designs on the young girl Tattycoram, hasn't angered the politically correct lobby.

Re: Little Doritt (2008)

Fourteen half-hour episodes???
What is the BBC trying to do, lock us into their channel.
I started watching this with high hopes, but find the various plot-lines confusing, the acting pretty poor, and Little Dorrit's father so dreadfully "slimy" that I just haven't got sufficient patience to follow it for such a long period.
Very disappointed.

Not watched it but the wife has it on Sky + and I'm sure they are 1 hour long.

Re: Little Doritt (2008)

The initial episode was for one hour, but thereafter, the following episodes were each a half hour only. Some of the repeats could possibly combine two half hour episodes. I don't have Sky, so am not sure whether their transmissions differ.

Re: Little Doritt (2008)

I love this program. Given up altogther on watching it on the telly, really dodgy times and short notice. So I've decided to stick to the HD rips.

Re: Little Doritt (2008)

Really enjoying this. Interesting how in Little Dorritt 19th century debtors were imprisoned, whereas they are now seen as "victims" who need help, hence these huge tax cuts, child benefits, help with mortgage repayments, loans for unaffordable Plasma TVs etc.

Little Dorrit

14/14

Good finalé to another great BBC drame series. When Riguad said the secrets would bring the house of Clennam come crashing house, he was right. I really did not like Father Dorrit when he thought he was better than everyone because he was rich in the previous episodes. Andy Serkis as the killer Riguad, who was the stand out actor/actor for me in this tale, closely followed by the rest.

Look forward to the christmas edition of - Lark Rise to Candleford, followed by series 2.

Re: Little Doritt (2008)

Very appropriate timing. It seems that Madoff is Merdles.

As for Andy Serkis, I found his "comedy Frenchman" a bit irritating. Just my opinion...

Excellent stuff. Though maybe not quite upto 'Bleak House; (probably just as i prefer that story), it was quality all the way. Enjoyed John Alderton's performance as the squeezing Mr Casby.

'Bleak House' was quality, and so much darker. I would also put 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles', 'Lark Rise to Candleford' and 'Cranford' ahead of 'Little Doritt', so i was not expecting it to be as enjoyable after so many dramas on the Beeb before it, but it was great.

you got some catching up to do mate

'Larkrise' was very uplifting and humorous at times. 'Tess' was more downbeat, with a great performance from Gemma Anderton. Bleak House with Gillian Anderson & Charles Dance was dark and mysterious.
