Does slo-mo = HD ?

Why is it that showing things in slo-mo tries to express to us the quality of HD broadcasting?

All Sky's current ad's to try to sell us HD have everything in slo-mo.

Marketing, eh?

I suppose it's a way of demonstrating the perceived notion that with HD you'll see 'every blade of grass', 'every drop of water' etc. etc.

It certainly translates better when faced with a potential market that is 95% SD only viewing

Absolutely! Was having the same discussion about these ads at work last week. Obviously, the ads have the aim of getting SD viewers to make the switch to HD so, how can you convey the quality of HD using only SD broadcast? By using 'super slo-mo' footage, you can see the beads of water flying through the air, the blades of grass getting churned up, the true grotesqueness of Rooney's face etc etc... giving the impression of HD. It's brilliant to be honest. 'Perception is reality' as they say in advertising.

It also helps to cover up the audio drop-out.
