I have just finished season 5 of The Shield and it was superb (apart from the ending of the last episode!) but I have read that the UK version of the last episode was cut by 20 mins.

Does anyone know if this is true and is the 'extended' version much better?

If it is true I am very ****** off tbh!!!

That is apparently correct. Luckily I heard about it before buying the DVDs so at some point I'll pick up the new region 1 release.

I'm not certain but wasn't the longer version shown on Channel 5 when it originally aired?

The longer version was shown on C5, AFAIK one of the missing scenes on the Region 2 disc is where Vic is shown to be the father of Danny's baby

I think the thing that annoys me is there doesnt appear to be any logical reason to do it.

The thing now is do I buy the US version just to see the 'extended' episode............
