tv show from late 80's 'cor brian what a whopper'

Does anyone remember a tv series from about 1985 called somethin like 'cor brian (or trevor) what a whopper ', think it was about fishing.
I remember it because one of the actors used to come into currys in stafford where i worked on a YTS.

i think it was called "ey brian it's a whopper". and was about a bunch of brummie fishermen and there adventures..potty was one of the characters, a scryffy bloke who kept maggots in his pockets..they use to drink in a pub with a irish land lord and all he said was "get out ya bard"..and therye was 2 brothers called len and den llyode, who where suspected of cheating....

Eh! Brian! It's A Whopper was made in 1984 and Brenda Fricker appeared in it. I did a search but that was all I could find and this:

POST-AUF WIEDERSEHEN, PET (qv) angling antics of a Friday night which failed miserably to come up to high standards set by predecessor. Lots of arguments about weekends spent fishing: "But your mother's coming on Saturday" and boxes of maggots in the fridge, that kind of thing. Bit crap all round.
