What do you guys think about the following comedians?

As it often is with comedians and comedic actors, you either like them or you can't stand them, so how does everyone feel about the following?

Richard Pryor
George Carlin
John Cleese
Bill Murray
Jim Carrey
Eddie Murphy
Chris Rock
Robin Williams
Steve Martin

Cool

Richard Pryor was all right with Gene Wilder but do not care for him on his own.

John Cleese or should I say Cheese, brilliant comedy writer and performer.

Jim Carrey over the top, back under and over the top again performances.

Robin Williams best roles he plays are non comedy ones, the best comedy part he did was mainly straight role , was in Patch Adams.

Richard Pryor-made some very funny films, not a huge fan of his stand up
George Carlin-hate
John Cleese-very funny writter and performer
Bill Murray-very funny
Jim Carrey-hate
Eddie Murphy-was very funny, now pathetic
Chris Rock-very funny!!!
Robin Williams-agree, prefer his straight roles
Steve Martin-was very funny, lost it a bit in recent years, although thought he did a good job at the oscars.

Personal favourites a the moment are, chris rock and kings of comedy. Though brittish comedy is fantastic ant the moment with the likes of peter kay, ross noble and Jimmy Carr....and of course Gervais

They are all better as serious actors. Apart from Eddie Murphy who doesn't seem to be able to play serious roles. And who the hell is George Carlin????

RICHARD PRYOR funniest comedian that has ever walked the face of this earth as soon as i saw his name at the top i didnt even look any further down because it doesnt matter who is on the list after richard pryor.

the man is a genius,if your white (like me) black asian chinese pakistani or any other religion you simply can not do anything but laugh at this man,IMHO stand up was a hell of a lot better than on screen but either way he is the best just wish i could have seen him myself LIVE now where did i put that time machine lmao.

In their defense, Steve Martin was an awesome stand-up comic, and he's made some great films: The Jerk, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, The Man With Two Brains, Roxanne, LA Story, Trains Planes and Automobiles, etc. I loved his cowboy in Parenthood, too.

I don't like Jim Carey, but he was really good in Man In The Moon. That was kind of a straight role, and it's a film I love.

But my favourite comedians are Jack Dee, Bill Bailey and Spike Milligan.

I really dislike Eddie Murphy: I've never found him funny, and he's never made a decent film.

> Richard Pryor
So so. ages since I've seen anything with him in.

>George Carlin

Never seen anything where he's funny, and no, Bill and Ted doesnt count.

>John Cleese
Pretty good. Not a great straight actor though.

>Bill Murray
Superb. Which reminds me.. I need to buy Groundhog Day.

>Jim Carrey
Variable. I actually think he can be a decent actor in the right film.

>Eddie Murphy
Good at one point, bit so so now.

>Chris Rock
Competent.

>Robin Williams
Can be very good, also a good straight actor.

>Steve Martin
Variable between good, and dire.

oh and Lee Evans? puhlease... the man is a prat of the first order. Instant switch off with him.

Who is George Carlin?!?!?!

Ok, take a deep breath... relax.

If you've only seen Carlin as an actor, I'm not surprised if you don't like him. (I'm not too keen on what he's done either) But his standup is brilliant. He's got a lot to say, and isn't afraid to say it. And (IMO), his new stuff is just as good as his old stuff. He's been doing standup for a heckova long time now.

Do yourself a favor and check out some of his standup. (or you could just download a few MP3s of it... but that would be wrong )

As for the rest, I think they are all very funny, except for Carey and Robin Williams. (never found him funny... all 6 of his jokes)

Hi,

Richard Pryor - very mediocre.

George Carlin - never seen him in anything

John Cleese - on the whole, very, very funny man!

Bill Murray - okay, but not really a comedian in the general sense of the word

Jim Carrey - does my head in! Being stupid, isn't funny!

Eddie Murphy - Beverly Hills Cop was superb, but as a stand-up comedian, I find him too American to find him funny.

Chris Rock - irritating!

Robin Williams - can be funny, but does get on my nerves.

Steve Martin - very mixed opinion. His stand-up stuff is okay, but again he's very American with his humour.

Jack Dee - I personally love him! Very, very funny, and acidic.

Eddie Izzard - bizarre tales, but he's still one of the funniest "men" around!

Bernard Manning - should have been shot at birth! The man is about as funny as a haemorroid explosion, in a vanilla ice-cream factory!

Pooch

The best American Comic by a long way, imo, is the sadly no longer with us Bill Hicks. It's a shame that more Americans didn't get his humour.
