Angel - the future?!?!

I was being one of those sad people who stands reading magazines in WHSmiths at lunchtime today. I was surprised to read in several Sci fi magazines that Angel has not been renewed for a 5th season yet!!!

Am I the only person amazed by this, the show just gets better and better and along with Buffy is one of the most consistent shows on TV. One magazine stated that if the show does get picked up for a 5th season, its going to go through a major overhaul! I hope this is wrong!

What are your thoughts?

I think you may be one of the few, by now, who don't know that it has been picked up.

I saw this the other day, to some relief, though never doubted the Angel cash cow would finish at 4.
Smile away in belief and testify

apparantly according to the US trade mags (as of today) it is being picked up for a fifth series. although how wise this is I'm not sure (how bad have the last few episodes of this season been?!) cordy may not be coming back as a regular (maybe that hints at the outcome of this season?)
since marti noxon took over this season the standard of writing has been terrible, I hope JW takes the reigns again for the fifth season

Sorry James, have to disagree. This is the best season IMO, and the only programme I sit down and watch "live" (not recorded on Sky+) every week.

Angel

Hi,
Terrible is a strong word!. This season is good, but can't be compared to last season, especially near the end, with the Holts storyline, Darla expecting connor and everything else that kicked off.

Buffy is kicking angel's ass this season IMO! cordy is useless at playing the baddy. And there are too many good guys they all seem to end up standing around in the hotel lobby debating what needs to be done. I wish Wesley would go back to being goofy again as well!! He should have listened to Willow's advice last week.

I didn't think season 1 was that great when I first watched it but having watched it recently I think its by far the best.

Apparantly Spike will be going over to Angel next season as well

thnx for the link, but I only got the headline!!!
I think this season has been excellent, but probably not as
good as last season. I've heard a few rumours about a few of the members of Buffy coming over next season, and after Willows appearance a few weeks ago why not! I Thought she fitted in well especially liked her dialogue with Fred!
Spike could be great, if the rumours are true.

I agree that Cordy is not the greatest villian, but we'll see how the season progresses, I still think it's head and shoulders above other programs, and I look forward to it every week.

\ Angel Season 4

The show's quality has just plummeted. CORDY IS USELESS as the "big bad".

I personally thought that season 4 would have more interaction with season 7 of buffy, been as though this is when buffy finishes. My friend said 2 me ages ago that she thought Cordelia was being possessed by The First which is why she became evil (or something similar). I thought that was the best idea for the storyline that could have been - shame it didn't happen.

I suppose that they had to work Charisma Carpenter's pregnancy into there somehow. Shame - coz it's messed up a series that started rather well.

You might want to label spoilers next time mate. It's a good thing I watch the show every Thursday or you would have spoiled an awful lot for me

Aplogies - I'm still sorta new to the A/V forum - especially the TV shows part, so spoilers keep slipping my mind.

Talk about history repeating itself ! Spike was brought on as a Buffy S4 cast regular when Cordelia left for Angel. I think it would work, but I don't know if Spike would be soul-less or not (I'm only midway thru Buffy S7 in NZ).

What with the Angel/Spike history of conflict and another vocal sparring partner for Wesley, this could actually make an interesting season. I don't think Spike should live in the hotel but somewhere else in LA.

Does anybody know exactly which characters of buffy are heading to angel?

I heard rumours that Willow will be, now spike.

Anybody else - what's going on with faith? Do we get to drule over her some more or is she finishing with series 7?

Rumours were/are that Faith may get a series with her in the lead.
Xander isn't crossing as he, in real life, is going for some other show. Anya isn't.
Giles is said to be going to star in some Angel ep's and may get a tvm or two as The Watcher instead of the series originaly suggested by JW. Willow is also rumoured as a pop up guest.
Spike is a regular - which the link I posted sais, weird I just tried it and the paragraph states that. Sod it:

Monday’s Variety reports: "‘Angel’ – with new cast addition James Marsters - is taking flight for a fifth season on the WB.” It’s for a full season, according to the trade paper. But founding cast member Charisma Carpenter, who plays Cordelia Chase, “is not expected to return as a series regular.”
Look for some of the best writers from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” to jump back to the WB, as well as quite a few other characters last glimpsed on the streets of Sunnydale.

Deffinately not happening. She didn't want to follow in smg's footsteps and has signed to a new show of her own. Although, Joss was most keen on this idea.

As a result he has said that there deffinately will not be any other spin off in the foreseable future (i.e next fall). They are concentrating on Angel for a while. Watcher spin off called "ripper" for the bbc and buffy film most likely in the distant future "if" something does eventually happen.

Xander wanted to go to angel, but was told he couldn't (not very happy about it) because he never got on with angel so viewers wouldn't buy it! (I totally disagree but whatever).-signed for a new sitcom.

Willow (concentrating on movies having just done american pie 3) and giles will definately be making guest appearences on angel.

Smg probably would have as well, but since the whole cast hate her, and she doesn't speak to them anymore (didn't even go to the wrap party because she wasn't welcome), it's unlikely!
