Underworld

How flippin' Blade 2-a-lishious does this look, damn cool looking film. Vampires vs. Werewolves. guess it's in response to Steven Sommers' Van Helsin.

Looks like a rip off/hybrid of a lot around at present in style and CGI, notably The Matrix, Drucula (1992) as well as Blade 2. Still, the gothic quality of it should lend itself well to some CGI. The love story element troubles me along with the fact that it may turn out to be a bit too CGI-tastic though. But then Kate Beckinsale looks rather nice from front and behind, yowser Let's hope she isn't the only worthwhile thing.
When is it out James?

September I think, yep Kate Beckinsale don't look half bad in that body suit!! Not saying it will be a great film, but should make for some decent eye candy

jesus you're lucky then, terrible film, one of only a handful I have considered switching off, Iggy Pop is the bad guy and is unbelievable bad. Underworld does seem to have some major influences style wise. Blade 2 and Crow being two.

Looks great from the trailer.

As already mentioned looks like a cross between the crow, blade and Matrix, But IMO thats a good thing, gothic films like that normally always have a wicked soundtrack as well so, hopefully it will all come together and be an alround good film.

Looks like they are using the same werewolf suits from Dog soldiers

Cool

You missed one in the rip offs, Romeo and Juliet. Vampire and Lycanthrope fall in love.

It's not exactly "ripping it off" though, as the makers have always said it was a horror version of Romeo and Juliet. News/updates on this one's development been floating around the horror sites/underground network for around 18 months to 2 years now, if not longer.
At the end of the day, if you're going to do something in the "modern gothic" style, you don't really have too many options as pretty much everythings already been done stylistically in Batman, The Crow, Blade, Dark City...

I prefer to say "influenced by..." rather than "ripping off"
All the early indications are that it'll be at least entertaining.

The trailer showed some interesting effects and action scenes that had me excited.

Total fantasy with a bit of slaughter and wild entertainment. Nice.

I don't mind where the influences came from. I intend to sit down and watch what looks to be a very entertaining film.

I'm really looking forward to this.
I hope it turns out to be not too bad as opposed to really awful with all the cool bits in the trailer.

Anyone notice kates characters uses Lara Crofts extended H&K USPs? Very Cool.

it just looks abit "iffy" and weak. Maybe i'll see on DVD and it will be fab, but its not going to get me into the cinema - but hey i'm i'm the only one i know who thinks the Matrix is very overrated.

Gut instinct tells me it going to be poor.
