You're obviously not a fan of any films from HK then?

Fair enough, personally I love Tarantino and I love Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon style stuff and I can't wait for Kill Bill.

I can't stand Charlie's Angels myself but if you've seen the trailer it's unfair to compare the two. Kill Bill's definitely my most anticipated film after the Matrix double this year.

This is one of the films that I am really looking forward to this year and should come as a bit of a relief once we have got this summers packed hollywood blockbusters out of the way.

Try Infernal Affairs. Not your typical HK movie at all. Trust me on that one

At risk of appearing a bit of a pedant, I'd have to say The Ring is Japanese, and as such doesn't originate from Hong Kong.

yep your right lol i`m pretty much against anyone foreign film joke joke lol im not bothered where they come from when you hear stuff like "scariest movie since the exorcist" and reviews off people themselves saying how scared they where at the ring etc you expect a decent scare this is not the case IMHO and its a bit like THE EMPERORS NEW CLOTHES.

You know, sometimes people delete their posts when they check on IMDB and realise they were wrong. It's polite not to mention it when this happens, and it's certainly considered vulgar to go on and on about just how wrong they were

Sorry mate

My post looked like I was talking to myself, so I had no other choice but to make others aware about your ignorance

If you don't think Kill Bill is your cup of tea don't watch it. I for one can't wait to see it. I find a lot of the Jap/HK/Korean films quite refreshing and original. Hollywood seem to think so too since there rehashing some what inferior versions of critically acclaimed films. It'll be interesting to see what QT can do with this genre tribute.

I'll second SG's recommendation for Infernal Affairs, it maybe just the HK film you need to see Silverback.

I've yet to watch the remake ,but, it's had mixed reviews just like the original. I would expect the remake to have a much higher budget and therefore the potential to be possibly better. Since the people across the pond are producing some excellent dramas these days (eg. The WestWing, Boomtown, CSI and the like.) i'm hoping they've given the original the treatment it deserves.
I'd like to hear your comparisons (without giving too much away) of the two films.

Did the shot composition strike anyone else as being particularly stunning from watching the trailer?

Some of those frames look absolutely gorgeous.
