Exclamation FX Goes HD In UK

Hi,

Fab news for fans of US imports. As of Monday 28th April 2008, FX will be broadcasting an HD channel!

However, the scheduling will only run from 7pm-2am approx, and will NOT be the same as the normal FX, FX+1 or FX+2 channels.

The HD version will show old and new shows, in HD, including:
- Third Watch (Season 5 - uncut and edited versions)
- Nip/Tuck (Season 5 from the start)
- E-Ring (Season 1)
and many others!

The channel number on Sky Digital will be on channel 205, and will be REPLACING FX+1 completely! (This means only FX and FX+2 will be available to standard digital viewers on Sky!)

Hi DaveS,

No news on when Season 5 of NCIS will air, but it certainly isn't due on either FX or FXHD until mid-to-late May 2008 at the earliest, and certainly not on the first week of FXHD's schedules. Sorry, mate.

Agree completely but perhaps common sense will prevail and they will reduce it in size and intensity. Too much to hope that they'd abandon it altogether although I wish they would.

And when are BBC HD gonna do something about their massive logo ?

Dear channel owners,
My Sky Box has this neat trick, when I switch to a new channel the on screen menu tells me what channel I'm on and even what program I am watching. I know, I know its amazing isn't it... wheel.... fire....on screen menus. Anyway I'm sure you didn't realise but now you do can you take your logo offthescreen for the love of all that is good.

Ah but in the new multi-channel universe it is important to have a strong brand identity. This can only be achieved by putting a big shiny logo in one corner. No sorry, make that about 6 inches in from the corner. Also we need to ensure that casual viewers ( who are most important to us) know when we are broadcasting a new series so we will put "new series" on the other side of the screen.

Then of course it's important that people know that this programme forms part of our regular schedule so we will
put "Drama Night" or "Sci-Fi Night" in another corner so that people know exactly what they're watching.

I'm sure you all appreciate how important it is to attract and keep viewers in these ultra-competitive times. Viewers to whom picture quality, sound quality and programme quality are important are well catered for by DVD and Cinema so we are trying to attract a different kind of viewer, often referred to as "thick people."

Maverick,

I'm pretty certain that Season 5 of "THird Watch" will air on FX (regular) at some point in May, but the schedule will differ from the HD schedules. Sorry I can't offer you any more specific details.

Re: FX Goes HD In UK

Hey Pooch

thanks for the update ....

I have about six or so episodes of Nip/Tuck in the planner recorded from FX ... is this season five? If so, they can all get deleted and I will record them on FXHD starting Tuesday!

cheers

Hi Abbeygoo,

Yep, FX are currently part-way through Season 5, and FXHD will be starting Season 5 all over again, from the beginning, for HD lovers like yourself.

Exclamation Re: FX Goes HD In UK

Afternoon Folks,

Just a quick note for you all regarding FX-HD.

1 - The channel starts broadcasting from 10pm tonight, but will usually broadcast from 7pm.

2 - Tonight's first show will be Season 1, Episode 1 of "Brotherhood" in HD.

3 - The Sky EPG doesn't appear to have been updated yet, either with the name of the channel, nor the correct programming. The channel number, however, has been confirmed as being 205, replacing FX+ (or FX+1 for the rest of us)!

4 - Dexter (Season 2) will broadcast in HD, later in the year, but will premiere on FX (SD) first.

The best news, though, I've saved for last, because I know it will please a lot of you:

FX HD will broadcast every show without any advert breaks or interruptions, e.g. US hour-long dramas (Third Watch, NCIS, JAG, etc) will be scheduled in 45 minute slots, with shows from HBO, Showtime and the like, (Nip/Tuck, Brotherhood, et al) will be scheduled in appropriate slots, depending on the length of each episode!
