Do you remember 'One Summer'

In the early 80s on channel 4 i watched, like many others 'One Summer', staring David Morrissey as Billy, and Spencer Leigh as Icky. At that time it was an incredible drama and one that stayed in my head, about two boys who run away from their troubled lives in Liverpool to a summer in Wales. If i recall it was quite emotional and a gritty series. I noticed it was on 2-disc dvd so have bagged a copy.

Re: Do you remember 'One Summer'

It's a lot like Anton Rogers. I only found he was no longer with us on Sunday night watching the TV awards. He was so very good.

This is getting depressing.

Re: Do you remember 'One Summer'

I loved One Summer when I was growing up in the eighties. I bought the DVD when it was released and sadly for me it didn't seem as good as I remembered it to be. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it for 20+ years but it didn't seem to age as well as some other eighties classics such as Prospects which has never been released on DVD

Don't know Prospects either. Must have been asleep, or at work.

All the very best

Re: Do you remember 'One Summer'

One Summer was brilliant .
Got the dvd myself on the cheap from play last year.
Worth a watch but may not have the impact that it had in the eighties now.
Some great acting and some unknown stars that we see now.

I still have both One Summer and all episodes of Prospects except one on VHS from the original TV transmissions.

Which episode of Prospects are you missing? Is it Uncle Harry's Game? That seems to be the one that nobody has.

Never saw One Summer on TV but bought and watched it on DVD. I must say I found it to be excellent.

Goodness remember when channel 4 produced great dramas like this and P'tang Yang Kipperbang?

More of these and less BB pish and I may tune in more.

It's been so long since I watched them I can't remember now. I vaguely remember it being about catching rats on a ship. I set the VCR on timer for it and we had a power cut, so it never got recorded.

Was Uncle Harry's Game the one about the "perfect" greyhound betting system?

Re: Do you remember 'One Summer'

Jesus at last someone who remembers this absolutely brilliant drama. Have to admit it really touched a nerve when I was a tenn and a little on the wild side. Anyone else I have ever asked about this have looked at me like some sort of mentalist!
