Stand-Up: Muslim American Comics Come of Age

Coming on pbs 5/11...

I saw Dean Obeidallah in jersey a few years back and thought he was hilarious...had to be the first openly muslim comic id ever seen...its a special on him and some other comics, trying to tackle some uneasy subjects in todays world...with humor...definitely looking forward to it.

You might like Shazia Mirza as well.

she did a show in leicester back in Feb and its fair to say she died on her arse.... was not a pretty sight, all her jokes were unfunny and she warbled for ages with no real end in sight.....

although in fairness she did pre warn us that she was trying to write a new act and was testing some of it out on us.....

Omid Djalili's not bad as a stand-up (though his recent BBC sketch show was pants), and one of the very few middle-eastern/Arab comics around; also found him amusing in The Mummy, and he seems to earn a good living from his Hollywood comedic character acting

A bit OT here though, as Djalili's not actually Muslim, but a British born Iranian of the Bahá'í faith.
