Pre-1980 TV Series on DVD

Just picked up 'Mission Impossible' the TV series on DVD and I'm blown away by it.

Since buying other shows like Peter Gunn, Twilight Zone, Invaders etc I have fallen in love with some of the classic shows from this era.

What others can you guys recommend ? There are so many butI just don't know where to make my next move.

Any suggestions ?

I watched some repeats of this series a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised at how well it has held up.

Richard Bradford is a cool dude as the title character McGill.

I saw one of these a few years ago. I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in a field beating up a lady in a lacey black bra. She was wearing the bra by the way. I'd missed the lead up to this scene and I'm sure there was a good reason for it. It wouldn't get out like that now.

Thank God

And the New Avengers, I haven't seen that in ages either, and I like Purdey. (Joanna Lumley). I particularly like the one on the shooting range. A bit like one of the Dirty Harry films... The Enforcer.

I can watch Columbo every day. I think I just watch the same ones about 8 times. I wonder if they can be made HD?

Yes the above I have all of them. The first 2 a slightly timeless but OL is very much 60s without doubt. The first series is the better of the two and some are realy classic storys sort of mini B-films if that’s not a oxymoron. Some though are turkeys but well worth wadeing though for the good ones. You will have to also take into consideration the budgts that they had in the 60's for sci-fi.
A lot of the ITC productions where not bad as also above Man in a Suitcase, The Champions, Department S Randall and Hopkirk Deceased etc.

By the way snipsmovies Is Peter Gunn any good and is it B&W or colour, use to like seeing Craig Stevens but we never got the series in our region. Great theme by Henry Mancni

Re: Pre-1980 TV Series on DVD

The Diana Rigg/Emma Peel Avengers were out of this world. Brilliant TV.

Rigg was so much more sexy than Lumley. (Is there a drool symbol?)

Yeah - its a great series. Its unusual to get used to the short running time of the episodes - but once you r are into them its great 'noir' TV.

Btw guys these are great suggestions. I was practically unaware of 'Man in a Suitcase' and 'Danger Man'. Really looking forward to picking these up !

I run an Independent DVD Rental Store in the UK and I'm trying to pull together some great titles for a 'Classic TV' section - lots of ideas here !!

Do 'Network' have a website ? - they seem to be releasing some classic cult series.
