Strictly Come Dancing - Who cares. (Total rubbish which the missus watches, on her own I might add).
Dancing on Ice - Ditto to above.
What not to Wear - Two idiots running around criticizing what people wear. One is over weight/looks like shrek and the other one looks like a post op sex change. Its a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.
Jack Ass - I never could get what was so funny here, I grew out of this sort of humour at the age of ten.
Eurovision Song Contest - Just simply awful.
The Gadget Show - Total and utter crap, add to that totally annoying idiot presenters.

Count yourselves lucky, the Irish version of these fine soaps "Fair City" must be worst program without a doubt on Irish TV.

Can't help observing that the majority of "most hated programmes" listed in this thread, are in the top ten for viewing figures.

Not sure if that is a reflection on the great viewing public or (dare I say it) Forum members!

Well,if these programmes are what the general population like to watch, then we have a seriously deluded set of people,it's probably the same retards that got the "singing dog"advert banned.

Eastenders would be watched by most Londoners, the same as I would watch a soap based in my own area. This does give Eastenders a head start in viewing figures.. a bit unfair. Plus women love soaps, that's another 50% advantage. But how does this relate to quality?

How did the singing dog advert get banned, it has no upsetting moral issues?

It wasnt trained to quiver!

It was on a vibrating platform, another example of this 'special effect' is the monkey in the third Pirates of the Carribean film where it is shown shivering along with the other cast members.

I'm not a Dr Who supporter by any means of the imagination but there's nothing wrong with having a phone box as a Time/Space Ship. I personally think it's a terrifically creative and imaginative idea to have a ship so small on the outside yet so large on the inside. I personally think doctor who lacks quality writing and aiming at pre-pubescent audience doesn't help. I believe doctor who could be a great show instead it's mediocre at best for 80 - 90 per cent of the time.

My most hate programmes tend to be reality, soap, anything that involves voting, well let's be honest 90 per cent if not more of terrestrial TV.

Let's be honest television ratings are hardly conclusive of any popularity of any show. A few thousand representative boxes for the entire UK hardly represents the viewing public. Let's be honest if you take one genre for example science-fiction you will notice huge variation in opinion, Trek is along way from most popular here.

As for this forum I think generally we represent a proportion of the population that enjoy's quality television. I'm sure there are saddo's amongst us that watch soaps, Reality TV etc by choice but I think we tend to prefer quality US drama. More the shield rather than the bill, or Battlestar Galactica over Dr Who (not that BSG isn't without its problems)

Both sides of the story are correct as two dogs were used. One could quiver on command, the other stood on the vibrating platform.

The problem with this system is that it only counts viewers who watch a program as it is being transmitted. This includes those TV sets that are left switched on with no-one in the room but excludes programmes that are recorded for later viewing. I record everything first as I can then cut out the adverts.

I'm afraid that I disagree with that comment. I think that the vast majority of active and regular forum members are from a particular segment of society in terms of age, job type and IT literacy and that reflects in the type of programme that they watch and how they watch it.

If Battlestar Galactica was on TV at the same time as a BBC drama my betting would be on the majority of contributors to this particular forum watching the former.

I watch Doctor Who for the simple reason that I always have done and grew up with it but I don't think that it's as good as it used to be
