Exclamation ST ELSEWHERE Returns To C4!

Hi All,

Just found in the new Radio Times that Channel 4 is repeating all of Season 1 of "St Elsewhere", the classic 1980's US medical drama series starring a very young Denzel Washington.

Sadly, the scheduling leaves a lot to be desired! You will need to check each week's worth of transmissions, as the show is never on at the same nights, nor at the same time.

1-01 airs Monday 14th April (late-night/early Tuesday 15th) at 5:05-6:00am
1-02 airs Tuesday 15th (late-night/early Wednesday 16th) at 5:15-6:10am
1-03 airs Friday 18th (late-night/early Saturday 17th) at 4:25-5:20am.

Hopefully episodes will NOT have a visual Sign Language person on them, but no further details are available. No news, either, on whether any further Seasons will be shown.

Re: ST ELSEWHERE Returns To C4!

Still my all-time favourite medical series, I think. I can still recall Dr Craig 's joy at finally receiving the Cushing Left Anterior Descending Artery Award (a pair of glass hands), also awarded (years later) to Dr Geiger from Chicago Hope (my 2nd favourite medical series, up until they killed off "The Eel").

And Dr Auschlander never did get around to dying, did he?

On a sadder note, Ed Flanders (seriously!), who played Dr Westphall, killed himself in 1995.

Is there any kind of connection or reason as to real life actor Ed Flanders, and the similarly named "Ned Flanders" in "The Simpsons", or is this purely coincidental?!

Re: ST ELSEWHERE Returns To C4!

I think it's just coincidental. I've never read anything that suggested it was some sort of homage, and the characters are very different...

Re: ST ELSEWHERE Returns To C4!

Thanks for the heads up, Pooch, remember enjoying this first time around.

The scheduling seems a bit strange, presumably series link will take care of it, do you think?
