Stargate SG-1 Pilot Remake

It seems that the pilot for Stargate SG-1 (Children of the Gods) is being remade! as much as I love this first foray into the Stargate universe on TV I’m intrigued to see what they come up with.

The news is that we'll get new graphics, an updated score and seven minutes of the original cut out to 'tighten' things up (this will include the nudity). Due for release on DVD at the end of the year (in the US at least)

What are your thoughts, good, bad, or just a money making exercise?

I wonder if they will cut the cringe making line from Sam about her "bits" being on the inside

Seriously though, better graphics well I don't consider the pilot is in the same league as TOS in requiring updating, the music has always been excellent and well I quite liked the more adult nature of the premiere, it had more in common with the movie than SG1 finally evolved into.

Still it will make interesting viewing especially reframed for 16:9 and I assume if it was shot on 35mm then HD here we come

i assume it must have been as Gateworld says that as well as DVD it could also be shown on the new MGM HD or Sci-fi HD channel. you would have thought a pilot for a new expensive show (as SG was) would have been filmed on 35mm?

Re: Stargate SG-1 Pilot Remake

Nothing wrong with the first episode and that includes the special effects.

The first three seasons were filmed on 16mm (except effects shots). The budget for the show was nothing like it was later on.

Yeah so do I, been so long since I've seen it and then only on a 4:3 display I didn't even consider it was widescreen
