Hands up who watches THE BILL

The Bill is a conundrum to me.

I used to watch it but stopped about 10 years ago when I thought it had run its course. But its like Coronation Street - it looks like its going to go on forever.

And the funny thing is, I don't know a single person who watches it.

So anybody want to admit to it here? And whats the standard like now, especially when there is so many top quality cop shows available from the US.

Re: Hands up who watches THE BILL

I did watch before it became a soap many years ago, remember those days?

And a little time after that, but now I could not tell you who the main characters are, but does anyone watch ITV anymore?

Yeah, I do sometimes. It's 'switch off [brain]' TV for me.

Re: Hands up who watches THE BILL

I haven’t watched it for years, i did used to watch it regularly but got out of it as it always seemed to be the same stories repeated over and over with a few changes here and there.

Always used to laugh at the credits though, how cheap did they used to be, just two pairs of feet walking down a cobbled road

Exclamation Re: Hands up who watches THE BILL

Hi,

Yep, I used to watch The Bill too, but it became too "soap-like" and started getting stupid. Two episodes a week, 8pm every Tuesday and Thiursday nights, were great, but with the additional episodes, the cosntant slot changes, and the overuse of multi-part stories, it became a mockery of itself. Give me the old days of June Ackland, Tosh Lines, and Reg Hollingsworth, over the pap actors and ex-soap/reality TV cast they have on now!

Re: Hands up who watches THE BILL

I used it watch it at work when I worked shifts, but that was 15 years ago I think?

My girlfriends Nan still watches it, but no one else that I know.

Who are these 12 million people that watch it???

Re: Hands up who watches THE BILL

The Bill was one program I watched week in week out, but stopped watching about 3 years ago when it became "soap like" and started focusing on relationships between the coppers rather than solving crimes.

Was at it's best when we had the likes of Bernside, Tosh Lines, Don Beech etc.
