Arrow Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

Sundays 10:00pm - 10:30pm ITV1

The new CGI'd 'spitting image' series, should be fun

Not sure if this CGI version will be better than the latex puppet version, which was great. Not sure why they dropped the puppet version?, sure if you make a latex puppet it might cost a bit first, but you have it for use after that, but for cgi for have to do a lot of animation work and record and sync the dialogue.

Re: Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

well I thought it was awful, it looks live itv spent most of the shows budget on the cgi and forgot to hire writers and voice impersonators, some of the stuff was ok but I cant remember laughing out loud at any of the sketches.

Re: Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

i liked it, not as much as the latex version, it all looks to clean, but the animation is very good.

Will and harry, and madge as roger, the dames - sketches were funny.

Didn't like it at all. It has potential but it needs something actually funny.

Thumbs down Re: Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

This is no replacement for 'Spitting Image'!

I found the 'CGI' made it feel very cold, and the writing, well what writing!

A real shame cos it would be good to turn ITV for more than 'Harry Hill's TV Burp'

The only bit I laughed at was Posh describing E.T as Et.

Re: Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

Watched it last night on Sky+

The Princes were OK
The Dames were good, as was Madonna.
The best bit by far was Fabio Capello & his translator

The rest I wasn't very impressed with..

Re: Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

Very poor, light on satire and high on cheap crude humour, with terrible voice acting. No a patch on Spitting Image or 2DTV. The only sketch that had me laughing was the “old Mugabee had a farm”. Won't be watching any more.

Re: Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

It was pretty poor. I quite liked the Clarkson scene though and thought the caricature of Posh Spice with her bony upper chest was clever. However, it was extremely unfunny overall considering there's an army of writers employed on it. And some of the vocal impressions were not up to scratch.

Re: Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

It's no spitting image at this point that's for sure, it's not anything like clever enough, the writing isn't reaching those heights by a long shot.

The animation I thought was very good, the puppets however were more macabre, anybody remember Maggie T's puppet when she was in anger mode ? The animation , it's a little to polished for my liking but well done none the less.

I'm also not sure whether I'm getting old or something but I didn't really find it that amusing, and the "posh is thick" , "cameron is posh" etc was all a little to stereotypical and easy, Spitting Image was a few notches above this stuff.

I'm not sure Harry and Will have ever claimed to want to be "down with the common folk" etc, I don't find Posh insanely stupid, she's just an easy target, I'm not even sure I blame the Irainian head case for wanting nukes, folks tend to talk less about invasions and regime change when you have nukes, the translation sketch was funny, but all in all I just didn't agree with the angle the humour took or find it that clever.

Balls, definatley getting old or losing my sense of humour.

Re: Heads up for Headcases - 10pm Sun

Have caught up with the first few shows ... and have found it hit and miss - very much like Spitting Image.

Spitting Image was more miss than hit in its later series in my opinion, and every show, even from its early series, still had its duff sketches. I think my favourite is still Trevor McDoughnut announcing Bernard Manning Has Just Farted. I would also find the final bit on every show a bit out of place, its was usually slightly journalistic but obviously ranting against some political/corporate naughtiness, and usually no puppets involved; much better placed in Rory Bremner's or Mark Thomas' shows.

Anyhow, that all said, this has many Spitting Image and 2DTV people involved, especially Henry Naylor ('Bough' in Rowan Atkinson's Barclaycard ads) and Rory Bremner, so I just view it as more of the same. I certainly enjoyed the Brown/Darling and Cameron/Osborne sketches. Could do without the Posh & Becks ones, as its easy lazy comedy, they've been done to death already, and the less I see of them (satire or not) the better.
