Question Is Harry Hill's TV Burp becoming too crude?

Hi.
I'm 13 and I watch Harry Hill's TV Burp. It's excellent, but the jokes are becoming more and more dirty. My younger brother, who's 9, watches it with me. I already understand all the crude humour so I there's no point me stop watching it, but do you think it's a bad influence on him by watching it?
Thanks

I watch whenever I realise its on (generally avoid ITV), and caught it tonight ... have no idea what you could be referring to

Have always enjoyed HH, one of the reasons being that he's not crude at all

It seems fine to me but I've no idea in which way a nine year old of today thinks.

No, I wouldn't think so, at his age hes too young to understand the crude innuendos. That's the British sense of humour, started decades ago. look at the carry on films.

The original Basil Brush used to get away with loads of stuff. The adults laughed because they got it. The kids used to join with them plus it was Basil, so it must have been something funny.

Best wishes

I remember Simon Groom getting away with 'Hmmm. What a beautiful pair of knockers' on Blue Peter years ago, and I heard about Dick or Dom wearing a 'Morning Wood' t-shirt (because his surname is Wood and it was Saturday morning show)

I remember a Magpie when they had this guy with a huge collection of drums. He mentioned these small pair of drums that would be worn from a belt that would fall into your lap area. He said they were called knacker drums because... but we never found out because the presenter suddenly found something much more interesting to bang on about.

All the best

Re: Is Harry Hill's TV Burp becoming too crude?

I remember in Rainbow, after Bungle had a shower, he put the towel between his legs, and pulled on both ends to dry between his legs. You could hear the crew laughing during the sequence.

Or there's this.... WARNING!!! Quite rude..... Yes it's a real episode....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApiPS...eature=related

I can't believe that I had to put a Warning on a real episode of Rainbow!!!

In 1979, the cast and crew of Rainbow made a special exclusive sketch for the Thames TV staff Christmas tape, sometimes referred to as the "Twangers" episode. This show featured plenty of deliberate sexual innuendo (beginning with Zippy peeling a banana, saying "One skin, two skin, three skin, four..." before being interrupted), and never shown at the time (as it was never intended to be screened to the general public.) It also included Geoffrey convincing the viewers to play with their balls, but if they didn't have any balls, they could ask a friend and play with his. Jane also claimed that she was banging with Ron and Rodger. Soon, Zippy asked them to stop suggesting whether to play with a blowing tube and maraccas.

The clip became famous after being aired on Victor Lewis-Smith's Channel 4 programme TV Offal (1997) and was jokingly referred to as "the pilot episode", which it clearly wasn't as Geoffrey Hayes was presenter at the time. The clip has become widely-spread, first in emails as an attachment and later via online video websites such as YouTube. This has led to many erroneous claims that the episode was publicly broadcast as a regular episode.

TV Offal also broadcast some very risqué material featuring members of the cast as guests on a variety show hosted by comedian Jim Davidson in the 1980s; the sketch in question, which featured former children's TV presenter Tommy Boyd, asking a question about Adam and Eve. Boyd and Davidson used some profanities in the sketch, along with some innuendo from George (presumably again not intended for broadcast like the above), but the most shocking moment was when Zippy exclaimed to Geoffrey: "The f***ing Garden of Eden!" This sketch would in all likelihood have been filmed during rehearsals.

Comedian Bobby Davro also parodied Rainbow as a comedy sketch in his own TV series in the early-1990s, playing the part of Geoffrey alongside exaggerated versions of Bungle and the puppets, which contained some mild sexual innuendo. (Davro had appeared in a regular edition of the show, in which he performed amusing impressions of the characters in front of them.)

While never explicitly adult, most interviews featuring Zippy and George since the show's demise commonly portray them as somewhat more edgy in terms of personality. For example, in an episode of SMTV live they call Bungle an, "Idiotic, blundering creature."

I fell for the myth, it was made for a Christmas joke amongst staff. (Other people say that it was made after the show got banned, and this was the staff revenge.) But the one with the towel was transmitted, because I watched it on TV, and it was a bit rude.

There was an excellent example on "'Allo 'Allo" today, when Rene passed a large sausage under the table to Gruber.

Gruber's reaction can be interpreted in two ways, depending on whether you're an adult or a child.

Very funny either way!

Re: Is Harry Hill's TV Burp becoming too crude?

I remember almost killing my self laughing at a skit that Ant and Dec did when they were doing the Saturday morning program.

They were doing a rip-off of CHEERS i think, anyway the lovely Miss Deely was wine tasting and then spat it in a bucket as you do. Dec, i think, then did a quick aside to camera and i swear he said "Ah, that's one of my questions answered"

Took me a few seconds to think, "did he actually say that on a children's program?" and then collapse into

A little bit of innuendo creeps in from time to time, but nothing smutty

Re: Is Harry Hill's TV Burp becoming too crude?

i don’t find anything wrong with Harry Hills comedy. Over the years British comedy has been made up of innuendos and some times crude jokes (just look at the likes of 'Carry On...'/Kenny Everit/Are you being served etc) its not always clever comedy but it almost always guarantied to make people laugh!
