Smile The day after tomorrow on 4HD 20.15PM

I Have been looking forward to seeing this in HD.

I also think its quite a good film to but most people say its just average.

I hope 4HD get this right because last night it was just showing a still picture with just sound last night.

I just looked it up and its also on blu ray.

IF I get a PS3 this would be the first movie I would buy.

Yeah hoping they get it right too.

They are so hit n' miss at the moment, particularly with regards the sound (or lack of) on occasions.

Thanks for the heads up.

Already had Passion of the Christ on the EPG but when I added it both The Longest Day and Life is Beautiful were not flagged as HD.

Life is Beautiful is a good, if unusual movie.

Re: The day after tomorrow on 4HD 20.15PM

Just had a quick flick and man it looks incredible...in SD!! Yes that's right SD

Here in Ireland we don't have 4HD it looks so good in SD that it looks better than some HD movies I have seen lately on Sky Movies HD (Black Rain, Inner Space, The Hunt For Red October )

It looks almost HD like I cant imagine how good it looks in HD.

Re: The day after tomorrow on 4HD 20.15PM

NO worries with the video or audio from last nights presentation, mind you it's probably the same master SKY had been using but with CH4's recent issues it's nice to see raising above them

Now if only the can rid of the DOG and adverts

I didn't think the PQ was upto much compared to some of the movies i've watched on Sky movies HD lately.

Movies far more so than anyother content are created with an artistic intent which doesn't always highlight the benefits of HD and of course the movie is older and the print will probably the original HD master, untouched since it was created probably for a US broadcaster.

Zulu really showed what HD was capable of for older movies given the investment but at the same time it looked so good even fairly recent movies are being questioned on their PQ

Don't agree.Lots of pixellation in darker areas.Anyone else notice this. After all this is a film with a lot of dark scenes.

If not then my 37in Toshiba WL66 might be the cause.

Mine was OK and I thought the blacks were quite good for my TV on the film.

Re: The day after tomorrow on 4HD 20.15PM

Big thumbs up from me. Just watched it earlier.

Had this on DVD for a while but comparing the two is like chalk and cheese. Pulled the settee right up - about 5' away from screen - and I didn't notice any pixelation or glump at all. Big well done to Ch4. Keep up the good standard.
