Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of 'The War of the Worlds'
The concert was on SKY last Christmas in SD but it's getting it's first screening in HD, should look very nice indeed.

According to Digiguide it's on the 5th of April at 16:45.
If I knew that a month ago I wouldn't have bought the DVD

This is good news. I went to the actual concert and it was a stunning musical production!

I have the SD DVD and the audio is incredible, I wonder if this will ever appear on blu ray...?

Just a thought, Beth (the preacher's wife) in HD...

One of the exhibitors at the what hi fi show had it as a demo with a very nice audio set-up (i think it was cyrus). I was stuck to my seat and sat there for about 20 mins until they changed the demo disk !

A quick heads up for all the WOTW fans, in addition to the HD showing of the concert as mentioned by the OP, there is a special on Sky Arts HD (and it is in HD!) on Saturday night at 22.15 showing the behind the scenes buid up to the concert, rehearsals etc.

Should be worth popping in your planner if you're a fan.

Sorry, but I 'taped' it and watched it last night. The pictue quality was ok, but the sound on DD 5.1 was amazing

I didn't even know there was a stage show until I saw the Sky Arts behind the scenes programme a few months ago.

my friend has lent me the DVD. No doubt I will be getting it

I've got the audiobook of the HG Well's original version. The reader just does not have the gravitas that Richard Burton brought to JW's adapation.

I must say though, JW's is much more succint, HGW's version seems to meander all over the place. Particualrly with the much overuse of the word tumultious. He must have used it over 100 times!

I caught some of it at Christmas and as a fan of the album thought it was excellent. Not so Mrs dunks517 "you can turn that rubbish off".
