Coincidentally, Gandolfini is trying to persuade HBO to up his salary from a paltry $400,000 per episode to $1 million. HBO has offered him $800,000.

Just ridiculous. You'd have thought that he'd 'want' to get another series!

I can't believe it.

I suppose it's down to the fact that money makes the world go round. He does have to pay for his agent, stylists, publicist, his family, God.....................

I`d say the big man is more than worth it,the likes of Friends/Will and Grace/Frazier/etc... pay packets far exceed Sopranos moola, and these are only half hour shows - granted I love them - but Sopranos is an hour of the best made tv ever - more like a mini movie each episode - and how much money is it generating for HBO pay the man what he`s worth!!

I think they should let the whole thing die,
its lost its edge.
The last series was well below par

If they are gonna keep going, Gandolfini deserves the big bucks. But, there would be a certain elegance to ending the show now before it becomes bad. The last season wasn't bad... it just wasn't all that good.

If read the article you will find out that it does not make that much money when compared to any of the shows you mention above.

Pay the man what his worth? No one is worth 1 million an episode imho esp. someone only good for playing the role of Tony Soprano.

Hey, Gandolfini is a decent actor. Check out "True Romance" or "The Man Who Wasn't There."

I'm surprised that HBO considers him so expendable. I don't see how they could do the show without him. Just about every character in the show is defined by their relationship with Tony.

what makes me laugh is HBO have something tottaly watchable and very good indeed an wont pay up the money that should be payed to the actor yet FRIENDS is complete dross and is held to ransom by a cast that cant act to save there lives very interesting lol.but seriously the money HBO must be making off the sopranos must be mind blowing not to mention the fact without gandolfini this show is finished IMHO maybe you would get one season out of it after gandolfini but no more.
