Cool 24 11.00-12.00

Did the picture on 24 seemed squashed for about 10 minutes, (in fact there were black bars at the top and bottom of the picture on both on digital and terrestrial) at the start then open up?

Yep, for the first 14 minutes it was squashed up (on analogue anyway). Someone must have finally noticed and flicked the right switch.

Cheers

Ian

I was watching the episode on bbc3 tonight, and about 10 mins in, a very loud voice over went on and on about "pure 24". I missed about 15 seconds of dialog

They didn't even apologise at the end, they just split the credits in half and ran the same voice over

Timmy B - you took the words right out of my mouth! Probably over-reacting here, but I was FURIOUS at the voiceover - I couldn't hear what Palmer was saying!

For goodness' sake, I don't watch much on BBC anyway, so when I pay the licence fee I expect the programs I enjoy to be handled properly. First the anamorphic/non-anamorphic carry-on, then the voiceover during the show, plus the usual spoiling of the credits (1. BBC2 episode sploiled by spoilers for next week; and 2. BBC3 episode spoiled by rubbish annoying advert for Pure24).

I think BBC have just outdone Sky1's "Jacko" D.O.G. last week!

Aaaaargh!!!

I've just complained via e-mail to the BBC. That's the first time I've ever complained! They made it awkward - I was re-directed several times to different sub-sites of the main BBC one before I found a suitable comment form and address.

Over on the "24" forums they are rather peeved!

Until I read this thread, I thought I'd done something to my TV as I'd just moved all my kit, and was considering adjusting the picture with the service menu when it suddenly filled the whole screen.

I had just been watching my DVD and had just switched over and 24 was starting, I thought at first the picture was in a framed box but it never opened up then I though the TV had not picked the single up and switch the sat box on and off. I then tried it on BBC2 and that was the same. So I knew something was wrong at their end and then all of a sudden the picture opened up.

Just going off toipc a little. At the begining of this series Jack Bower says that it is done in real time. How can this be when it's only on for 50 minutes?

Less than 45 minutes, but if you saw it in the States they have adverts which would bring it up to the hour. I know a bit of a cheat.

It's bad enough having to put up with the ******* screen ident at the top of the screen, but that voiceover was unforgivable. I was livid when that came over. Clearly it was a mistake, but they could have at least apologised. Points of view here we come.

Thanks for that Garrett. I was wondering how they could say that. It is cheating a little isn't it? But I'm sure the americans haven't picked up on it.

that voice over was the last straw

i think I will try sticking to BBC 2 now

saying that come Sunday I will probably give in and watch

I for one though am very grateful for BBC3 being so considerate and putting the DOG up, otherwise I would get very confused what channel I was watching

I certainly hope the voice over was a mistake but am not so sure:

was watching a programme on ITV (Meridian) on my parent's digital cable and mid-programme, a voice over came on talking about the next programme. I thought this was a mistake until it happened in 24 as well.

Seems like too quite a coincedence - unforgivable if it's not.

Too much weirdness since watching The Ring

it was almost certainly a mistake

BBC3 are obviously having a few teething problems they showed the credit sequence halfway through something I was watching the other day

I was suprised BBC3 didn't apologise in the Pure24 prog

I'm not too sure it was a mistake, but I am sure that pure 24 needs all the viewers it can get

Why on earth didn't they apoligise at the end!
