MKatrix has got to be one of my favorites, I'm suprised that was not in your original list.

I know, three places below Attack of the Clones!
Troopers was a much better film.

Silent Running anyone?

Didn't see Twelve Monkeys in there. Is that counted as more futuristic than Sci Fi?

I'll throw in a vote for GATTACA....

Not really a fast-paced movie, but very thought-provoking.

An underated gem in my view.

I'll second that. Probably my favourite 'in space' Sci Fi film ever.

Has nobody mentioned 'Close Encounters...'?

Bobbles, I think your posts are right on the money in this thread.

Alien always comes above Aliens IMO (the original is much less "Hollywood" than the sequel, if you know what I mean) although the latter is still a top movie.

The Matrix, definitely, in spite of Keanu "Oak" Reeves.

Event Horizon is a curious film: talk about oddball casting! Mind-blowing LFEs, though.

For some reason I always remember enjoying Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles (but I'm not suggesting this would appear in my Top 20 - besides, it was a three-part TV serialisation).

I'll have a think about others and post back.

He may be a plank, but I think Neo comes across well as a plank. I mean, would ou honestly take unknown pills from a guy looking like that, in a darkened room surrounded by other guys wearing leathers? Hate to promote stereotypes, but seriously, that scares me.

The Matrix is number one for me by a substantial margin, Gattaca might make top ten, but no Star Wars for me.

Cool

Will have to think about this one but so far:

1 X-Men
2 The Time Machine (the original).
3 Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (the original).
4 The Puppet Masters.
5 War Of The Worlds.
6 The Day The World Stood Still.
7 The Forbin Project.
8 Omega Man.
9 Quatermass II
10 The Incredible Shrinking Man

Garrett, your mention of The Forbin Project reminds me of Forbidden Planet. I was a young pup when I first saw this - very creepy. It won an award for its soundtrack (not that that makes a good film, of course).

I'm amazed you've dumped X-Men in with some classics (at number one, too)

I would probably put

Aliens, K-Pax, Gattaca, Minority Report, The Thing

along with the other 3 I mentioned

leaves two more for a top 10

It’s my favourite, now if the title was the best Sci-Fi film it may have been different. But seeing I have all the Uncanny X-Men stories from issue 1 till present day (well I stooped getting them last year) I may be prejudice.
And what does Cyclops wear over his eyes
