Grand Designs 26.2.03

Did anyone else catch the Grand designs program on Chanel 4 last night?

What a fascinating program that was. A bloke who lives essentially rough in a wood builds himself a house using mainly what is around him. Straw for walls, mud for plaster and trees for the actual frame of the house.

Now I could live like that!

Wasn't it a great house Steve? That would be a fantastic lifestyle. I couldn't beleive now much you had to put in to it to get that frame up and then the turmeric to colour his bedroom walls. Fantastic

Now where could I hang my speakers

The house did look great. Fascinating programme, and you have to admire a man who can build his own house from the ground up with little more than 3 or 4 people to give him a hand, and all in just 7 months

I bet it gets scary in those woods in the depths of winter though

u know i missed it.. (watched hart's war instead)

but i like the series. have seen a fair few episodes before.
i wish i saw this though as theres a house
near to mine thats built similar.

its off the road a fair bit , but has always caught my eye.
i have always said to friends that theres a house near me that
seems to be made of straw.

anyway in the local paper last week.
there it was , it had a feature. and yes its a straw house.

apparently made of bails of hey and then plastered with
clay. all sourced local.

this guy and his wife are clearly eco warriors too.
id love to get a closer look at it, as its always
fascinated me.

I just found that a bit funny with your name Rambo

Yeah a fascinating house. The guy who made it seemed like a bit of a nutter though- perhaps he was just a bit uncomfortable on camera.
