Old Style Doctor Who repeats uktv 5pm 2/1/08

'Robot' the first story featuring the superb T Baker is kicking off a season of repeats on the above date.

As Uktv Gold seems to think that constantly repeating the first 3 series of 'new who' (at the same time as bbc3) is preferable to actually showing something different (like they used to) this is good news for old timers like me....

(although i did buy this one on dvd for my son for xmas)

does anyone remember the brilliant season of repeats from 1980 (?), just after Tom's regeneration in Logopolis, and Peter's first series
- it was on BBC2 every evening, called The Five Faces of Doctor Who, and for a few weeks they aired An Unearthly Child, The Krotons, Carnival Of Monsters, The Three Doctors and Logopolis
- I absolutely loved it, and got my folks to buy me a load of the Target novelisations for Christmas

I bought it for myself, for no special occasion.
Along with Genesis & Destiny of the Daleks, and The Sontaran Experiment from the Tom Baker years.
Only got 1 Jon Pertwee(very close 2nd place all time favourite Doctor)at the moment - The Time Warrior.

You cant beat classic Doctor Who.

Re: Old Style Doctor Who repeats uktv 5pm 2/1/08

i remember watching carnival of monsters repeat aged about 5, thought that dinosaur in the sea was great (not quite so impressive now...) a great story that still stands up. Also watched the Krotons which was ok.

I also got destiny (for my other son) having bought myself the key to time boxset recently (very good it is too) and the visitation and the new beginnings boxset...

When the Sun gave away an episode of Robots of Death a couple of years ago i watched it with my son and thought how well it still stood up 30 years on - bought nearly 30 odd subsequent dvds as result (to watch with the kids..........)

Excellent - Tom Baker, only just beaten by Jon Pertwee as my favourite Doc.

Used to be William Hartnell for me but Christopher Eccleston now, I think.
