Re: Eastenders

I still don't get why people watch this and other soaps with it's depressing storylines at Christmas, breakdown of family life etc. It's a (generally) happy time, and I want actual entertainment dammit. Dr Who, now we're talking!

Re: Eastenders

East Enders has never been anything else but unremitting depression. I've never understood how anyone can watch it.

At least Corrie has both light relief and genuine comedy, just like real life. If life was as bad as portrayed by East Enders we'd all have topped ourselves years ago.

Re: Eastenders

I watched the two Eps. I must say I used to be a huge Eastenders fan (ages ago; we're talking Steve Owen and all that)...

But what I'm confused about was the trailer. Talk about giving it away...

Yup the appeal of ChavEnders has always eluded me, yet Corrie has on the whole been entertaining and sometimes heartwarming with a much better class of actor (apart from a few of its young starlets)

Re: Eastenders

I thought the xmas episodes of Eastender were excellent. I have been watching Eastenders since it first aired. Its one of the only programs I watch on terrestrial TV.

I have also been a fan of Corrie since was knee high to a grass hoper. But I have recently stopped watching it (4 months ago) due to being bored of the story line.

Maybe I am broken as I am also a fan of Steven Segal.

Re: Eastenders

I find it funny when they advertise Careline during the soaps, when I'm sure the miserable depressing storylines are partly to blame for people feeling so down in the first place. Why can't they do a happy christmas where everyone has the time of their lives for once?

Sadly some class this predictable nonsense as the pinnacle of drama. I guess it must appeal to a certain level of intellect who don't realise or don't care that Eastenders/Corrie/Emmerdale all seem to copy similar storylines, and after decades there isn't much that's new or refreshing and people must watch purely out of habit.

Fortunately in real life it's possible to be happy, for marriages to last years not months or even hours, to find work outside the immediate local area, and have a social life that doesn't revolve around the local pub. Yeah, these soaps are realistic aren't they.

Eastenders is one of the best true stories ever to grace our tv screens.

Damage Inc - Eastenders is one of the only things on my sky + list. I like the big girl who lives with Sherly and eats all the time.

Eastenders has also had its share of babes over the years

From what I have seen Corrie the same, seem there alway some one having an affair with an other person in the street.
