A question about Battlestar Galactica

Morning folks,

Me and a friend sat down to start watching Battlestar, popped in disc 1 of the first season and it started with "previously on Battlestar"

Does it follow on from a movie or something?

There's a mini season before Season 1. It's a bit like a 3 hour movie.

It is available on DVD in the UK but the picture quality is poor.

Whilst the Mini Series isn't essential it makes a big difference if you do watch it. Personally I wouldn't start without it.

I think I would class it as essential to be honest because it sets up so much of what is to follow.

The mini series is Episode 1,

to not see it is......

'Lost' without the plane crash
'The Lost Room' without the girl dissapearing.
'Life On Mars' without the car accident

Yes , you have to watch the first mini season.

It is part of the R1 box set of the first season and can be bought seperatly on R2.

There is stuff in the mini season that sets up story lines for the rest of the show.

I think it can also be bought as part of the region 2 complete season 1 - 3 and mini-series box-set

Thanks all, I bought it off Play and watched it yesterday.

Really enjoying it, have not been well this weekend and am currently up to EP 8 already.

Where does "Razor" fit in?

After Season 3 really. There is a two parter called Pegasus which is needed to be watched first from Season 2 but the episode afaik, also refers to stuff from season 3 as well.

In the timeline I think it takes place somewhere in the second half of season 2. It refers back to events that happen in that period but certainly happens before the final few episodes of that series.

Looking at the episode summaries on TV.com I would say it takes place after episode 17 of series 2

The Pegasus two-parter was probably my favourite episodes out of all series 1-3!

Razor is based on a set of flash backs going right back to the first war, I would still wait until after season 3 to watch though as some parts of it may spoil things for you.

Michelle Forbes makes a great Captain, she could have been great for Star Trek Voyager, or Alien.

Cheers all, after Season 3 it is.

I wish I had most of Christmas off, then I could make a serious dent in them.

Unfortunately it will be 2 a day on the Archos on the train.

Loving it though, watched season 1 on a rare day off.
