Ravenous on HD2 tonight

Ravenous is a most unusual horror/black comedy with great cast .....Robert Carlyle and Guy Pearce......very atmospheric snow scenes.I've set to record tonight(Friday) just after midnight.I have it on dvd and viewed it a few times ....really looking forward to it on HD.

Re: Ravenous on HD2 tonight

I had a quick glance at it today. Picture quality seems fair but by no means outstanding. While always better than DVD ,I find a no. of SKY HD films only marginally so and most certainly not jaw droppingly so.However I find SKY HD football to be a major leap over SD football.

Re: Ravenous on HD2 tonight

Football unlike movies doesn't employ a director of photography whose job it is to light scenes for effect and of course footy being live isn't going to be affected by the original quality of the film stock and it's storage for X amount of years

That aside I quite enjoyed the movie, never heard of it before and certainly lived upto it's black comedy description

I really enjoyed it again. It's one of those films(and there's a lot of them ) which bombed at the box office only to be rediscovered on dvd and become a favourite.
I also have to row back a little on my snap judgement that the picture quality was only fair.I found it to be quite good especially the outdoor scenes and I saw something on it which I never spotted on dvd, namely a real give away as to the genuiness of the "snow".As the search party comes down the side of the glen just before seeing the cave for the first time there are patches of "snow" on the ground. Robert Carlyle kicks a patch accidently and it's revealed to be a white sheetIn fact all the mounds of "snow2 in this scene are only white sheets. Evidently this scene was shot in an area with no snow and necessity being the mother of invention......
I checked with IMDB and guess what headed the list of goofs?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129332/goofs
So HD is better than dvd

Re: Ravenous on HD2 tonight

I really enjoyed this film when I first saw it. I had never heard of it before.
You don't see many Hollywood films on the taboo subject of cannabilism (I can only think of 'Alive' as another).
Missed the HD2 showing last night
