Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Tuesday 16th October!!

At last!!

From the BBC Press Office Website:

Critically acclaimed spy drama Spooks is back and MI5's Section D grapples with more explosive and original storylines than ever before.

Growing mistrust between the British, American and Iranian governments culminates in a series of high-risk operations at home, pushing the Section to its very limits.

As Iran's race to become a nuclear power impacts on British and American security, the distinction between friend and foe becomes ever-more blurred.

Harry and his team start to question exactly whose agenda they're working to and who they can trust – both on and off the Grid.

Meanwhile, the electric atmosphere between Adam and Ros comes to a head, but things are complicated further by Adam's ongoing and dangerous affair with a key asset inside the Iranian Embassy.

Harry gains a new friend on the Grid when he recruits old MI5 colleague Connie (Gemma Jones) as desk officer. Clever, and with plenty of old-school tricks up her sleeve, she might just be able to fill the void left by Ruth's departure.

Rupert Penry-Jones, Hermione Norris and Peter Firth return to head up Section D as officers Adam, Ros and Harry. Raza Jaffrey, Miranda Raison and Hugh Simon also return as Zaf, Jo and Malcolm. Guest stars include Matthew Marsh and Robert Glenister

Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Monday 8th October!!

I would guess the following week (15th?), as the BBC trailers are billing it as "coming soon" which usually means in a fortnight. Also on Radio Times the 9pm slot on the 15th is currently showing "To Be Announced".

Looks like it's back to silent witness next week and there's no sign of a date on the bbc website.

Please can someone post as soon as it's known (i'll do the same if i hear) - my wife has been waiting a long time to see adam

Cheers

Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Monday 8th October!!

Next weeks Silent Witness is an old one from last series. IIRC the BBC has often stuck a 2 part programme in between a series ending and a new one starting so I would bank on Spooks returning on the 15th as mentioned earlier.

Or for any other lucky TiVo owners out there, just remember to watch it, as the "season pass" set up afer ep 1, series 1, has sorted out all recordings ever since with no other input

Still great news that it's back, great show.

Arrow Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Monday 8th October!!

Further info from www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/tubetalk [*** SPOILERS!! ***]:

Finally back for a new series next week is Spooks, the BBC's upmarket version of 24, with an "exciting" new serial format.

This time round the ten episodes will see the team deal with a single threat - the tense and mistrustful relationship between Britain, the US and Iran, with all the diplomatic and security issues that it brings.

For the first time (two-parters aside), this means that plotlines will carry over from episode to episode, so expect cliffhangers galore. As the BBC sells it, series six is "an exhilarating, high octane journey with an abundance of dramatic twists and turns". Fancy!

There is no shortage of the promised twists and turns in episode one, which begins with Ros receiving intel about Iranian terrorist Mehan Asnik and his plans for a chemical attack in London. Zaf, undercover in Tehran, helps plant a bomb on board a train in order to kill Asnik and destroy the virus.

Unfortunately, another busy commuter train pulls alongside and the civilian casualty count increases. The lethal phial is released, and it soon emerges that MI5 was the victim of false intelligence, a deliberate act to get them to target Asnik and release the virus onto the innocent population.

That's alright though - the virus was released in Iran, not Britain, right? Wrong...

Asnik, having left the train before the explosion, comes to Adam to defect, unaware that he has already been infected with the virus. On the way back to base Asnik, Zaf and Adam are intercepted by a group of mercenaries - who may or may not be working for Asnik's former handler, the mysterious "Copenhagen" - with Zaf and Asnik being taken captive.

Before too long a highly contagious Asnik has infected Zaf and the kidnappers, who unsurprisingly become incentivised to negotiate their release for a virus. Asnik is later deposited onto the busy streets of London while a rapidly-deteriorating Zaf is left with the mercenaries.

Sounds good, a bit of a change to normal, but sounds like it'll be good, like a mini 24.

for a change it wasn't a cliffhanger:

possibly the Beeb have less power over this than other independent productions for them, since Kudos' productions (incl. Life On Mars and Hustle) DVDs aren't released by the BBC via 2Entertain (part owned by BBC Wordlwide), Hustle gets released by Universal whilst LOM and Spooks are released by Contender, and Kudos also retains the rights to overseas broadcast sales ... may be they will do so for S7 and the spin-off series Rogue Spooks airing on BBC3 later this year

Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Tuesday 16th October!!

Very dissappointed.......

....with Jo's new very short hairstyle !

Otherwise smashing stuff. Agreed that it's like spooks mixed with 24 and 28 days later (especially when the sick were walking around london - the background music especially).

Well worth staying up past my normal bedtiem to see episode 2

Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Tuesday 16th October!!

This series of spooks has been great with the continued storyline, and tonight episode was no exception.
SPOILER; How powerful or not so was that poison at the end, it only seemed to last for 10 mintues. And Ross judging everything Adam does, when shes a double agent herself.

Cool Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Tuesday 16th October!!

Though what Ross did at the end SHHHH was un-called for and would cause more problems than it solved or was it nothing to do with the job what she did, SPOILER Did she kill because she fancys Adam surely the Iran minister would be more after Adam with his wife dead) but then again you not to think to deep about these things.

Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Tuesday 16th October!!

Spoilers i knew ross faked the shooting last week,
- but what was going on that plane, it all seemed amatuerish, why not just get everyone to hand their bags over - or was it possible to trigger the water contamination from the plane?
- Ross seemed to get on that plane far to quick for my liking as a stewardess.
- Just what did adam think he was frying in the microwave when he took the laptop apart, was he just guessing, as the switches were smuggled out later.
But still very enjoyable

Cool Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Tuesday 16th October!!

In ansewr to your spoiler was it the CD/DVD with the info on its a quick way of destroying info on them, far esier than trying to snap one of the things in half. Think this would work on practicaly any electronic storage device.

Oh and the triger thing, they were sippose to let the info though to the other end if where the water was not found, they were just looking for the info at first, when they stoped the water it was ok for them to make there move.

That was a bit Charlies Angels.

Seem this series there makinging one mistake after an other, and I rather have it as one or two part stories rather than one running though the series.

spoiler - yeah what im saying is adam had no idea if the cd had the triggers, he was guessing, as it worked out the guy with laptop was cia, and the real triggers were with the captain.

nice to see keeley hawkes is coming back

- Ross seemed to get on that plane far to quick for my liking as a stewardess.
- Just what did adam think he was frying in the microwave when he took the laptop apart, was he just guessing, as the switches were smuggled out later.
But still very enjoyable

spoiler -- Adam searched the American, found nothing, his only other item was his laptop, so be a process of elimination fried this in belief that part of the laptop contained the triggers. Simple. shame he was wrong

Loving the story this season, starting to think 24 might be a disappointment after this cracking season Really liking the fallible nature of almost every character this time becoming a recurring theme, avoiding portraying MI5 as super-action-heroes at every turn! best series yet methinks

another spoiler, the new older woman for want of a better description as I'vbe forgotten her name (aka Harry's love interest ) - said she had personally recommended the pilot anyone else see a problem with this??

edit - good thing i previewed this, i spelt spoiler "spolier"!

Re: Spooks - Series 6 - BBC 1 - Tuesday 16th October!!

This weeks episode was a cracker - tense, with some good action. The mobile texting bit was OTT in the bbc studios. I dont know what was more frightening the story or adam and ross about to snog again, both are lying to each other.

Mild Spoiler;
And how underhand were they to recruite all those audience members as spies, stops the truth from getting out again - wonder if they get paid END
