House Season 4 (spoiler tags provided!)

Seeing as no-one else seems to have, I thought I'd start a thread on the new season that started this week, having just seen and thoroughly enjoyed the first episode.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed they seem to have changed the production style slightly? Specifically when outside the hospital the camera seems to float around more. I'm sure it used to be a more stable fixed camera, like it still is when inside the hospital. It now feels more like the Battlestar Galactica production style to me, maybe I'm imagining it.

Overall a really good episode and hope they keep the quality level up for the rest of the season.

Particularly enjoyed the interaction between House and Wilson, which is still one of the strongest parts of the show. Had a couple of genuinely laugh out loud moments, particularly when House was being 'threatened' by Wilson after breaking into Wilson's home and House says 'bring it on' then chucks Wilson's phone out of the window.

Also liked the little touches like when Wilson's reading the paper and all the words are cut out that he used for the ransom note.

Didn't see the twist at the end coming with the injured woman.

Strange how the opening credits were exactly the same as last season but no sight or word on what Cameron, Chase, or Foreman are up to now. Maybe that'll be cleared up next episode. The obvious storyline is that House begs them back after struggling for a few episodes, though I've read it may pan out differently.

One thing that puzzles me is what was the thing Wilson damaged and put in the cardboard box that House found while routing about? Was it part of a guitar, such as the handle that changes the pitch when pulled on? Sorry about the description, I'm not a guitarist! Confused if it was, as the guitar that was 'kidnapped' seemed undamaged at the end of the episode.

No...I noticed it too. Looked like a different film stock too..or is everything digital these days? More handheld camera stuff makes it seem more 'live'.

Yeah..I wondered too but I assumed it was Wilson just messing with House's head and that he used a 'substitute' piece.

Yeah they have. The opening scene in the office was very different aswell. The picture was very light and airy.

As for the camerawork, it is different from the rest of the other seasons. I'm not sure if I like it yet.

It'll be out on DVD (maybe even HD with a bit of luck) in the USA by then! No wonder people give into temptation and utilise the power of the internet.

The thing that puts me off is that your immersion in the drama is continuously distracted by the camera work. I want to get sucked into the show as if I'm there and not feel like it's a reality tv show being watched by an audience. So no I'm not sure it's a move for the better either.

Re: House Season 4 (spoiler tags provided!)

Loved the first episode, laughed all the way through and the resolution was far more surprising because of it.
The Lupus line was pure genius

Not sure about the production choices mentioned since I was only watching the bog standard 350meg avi and not the 720p HD cap.

I was watching the 350mb version too, and the production changes were obvious. But not sure if I like them yet.

Re: House Season 4 (spoiler tags provided!)

Good episode!! I see that they are back to the normal filming style. Works much better, I think. How hot was number 13?! Think I've seen her before in some other TV programme.

Edit* Yeah, #13 is Olivia Wilde. Knew I had seen her before - she was on The O.C.

I've seen The Black Donnellys (download now on ITV2) in which she stars as a down trodden diner owners daughter and didn't recognise her

Re: House Season 4 (spoiler tags provided!)

So I'm not the only one that hopes number 13 gets hired.

Though I'm expecting the loud sneaky one (number 24) to win out if they stick to the two blokes and one gal formula House had previously.

Can't help thinking it's not so clear cut that House will hire a completely new team with Cameron and Chase (and probably Foreman, unless House really was seeing things!) still working at the hospital. Can't see them agreeing to stay on this season unless they have more than the occasional bit part.

Another great episode! I was amazed to see House go that far. And for the first time I really felt angry towards him, when he tells the guy that there is no afterlife and he isn't going to sprout wings and fly off to heaven.

Next episode looks awesome.

Re: House Season 4 (spoiler tags provided!)

As soon as they started showing Foreman at the other hospital I just knew he was going to end up leaving and therefore probably coming back. I wouldn't be suprised if he ends up heading his own diagnostic team with Cameron and Chase, as previously offered by Cuddy to stop them leaving.

I can see 13 and 26 being in the final 3, if indeed there's going to be 3 newbies. Probably with the older technically unqualified guy.

Looks like in the next episode the ill woman sees House's dead grandpa . Shame we've got to wait two weeks by the looks of it.

He shoots, he scores! House bagged another hottie. I nearly thought House got away with that lie at the end there. Nice try.

I somehow think they originally intended airing it before Christmas!

Wonder how many more they've finished, assuming they'll be on hold like everyone else till the writers strike is resolved?

This side of the pond we are used to seeing the christmas episode months after the holiday but if I was a US viewer I'd wonder (even with the strike) what FOX were thinking of.

As for the episode loved every minute, the "your dad is dead" line, the hooker (had serious worries about the donkey reference I have seen ClerksII) and the secret santa was very funny.
I hope we see more of religious woman (surely not a nun), she could be a very interesting match for House.

Yeah it's about time House started opening up more after being so cold for so long. I like how they rejuvenated the show by putting Cameron and Chase in the background to bring in fresh blood, so maybe they'll do something with House himself.

I always thought he'd end up with Cuddy, and may still do, but would it destroy the essence of his character if he got involved with someone?

Nah, it would ultimately end in spectacular fashion which allows for the House to display a different side, for a while

Another cracking episode both in terms of House and his little helpers, Wilson was excellent and a great line from Foreman "wooing me for years" and about time Cuddy made an appearance although the lack of double entendre was missed
