Who Are The Worst Actors To Make It Big?

Who do you look at onscreen and think "jeez how did you make it this far". If the actor has charisma but can't act that's ok and they are to be forgiven (eg Arnie), we're looking for those wooden actors who are just so samey no matter what the role.

Here are my choices in no certain order :

Ben Affleck

Drew Barrymore

Madonna

Robert Redford (controversial one I know but his characters from most of his recent movies could be the same person)

Martin Lawrence (needs to be funny to disguise his bad acting but he fails there too)

Jared Leto (he was so bad in Panic Room I felt sorry for the guy)

Quentin Tarantino (excellent director though so a tough one to list for me)

Woody Allen (without doubt the most samey actor ever)

Jean Claude Van-Damme (nuff said)

Mike Myers (even his voice over in Shrek was boring, I've had funnier vommiting sessions)

Pierce Brosnan (oh cmon, you know he's only suited to one type of role, watch Dante's Peak if you think he can be anything but Bond )

Stevan Seagal (Under Siege series was ok but his other films just scream of "I'm A Macho Man, Don't Mess With Me"

Jim Carrey (see Mike Myers )

There are probably more but that's what comes to mind immediately, only two women in the list, there must be some more surely

Regards
Phil

You took the words right out of my mouth!!! As soon as I saw this threads' title his name sprang to mind.

I've hated him since I first saw him in Peggy Sue Got Married and he's still not changed since. Whether it be in Gone in 60 Seconds or Con Air I kept expecting him to burst into some awful 50s accapella tune. (/rant mode off)

George Clooney.

Not only does he just play himself in every role, he's even started defending the soon to come new version of 'Solaris', which is shaping up to be a full blown travesty of the original.

that's probably cos he stars in it! But if we are going to attack actors for playing themselves in every role surely Sean Connery should be on your list, although I doubt anyone would support that.

I would, he's good at what he does, but he's not a good actor.

It's my pet hate actually, actors who just are themselves in everything. It's why I often find smaller films with lesser known actors work better to me.

Could SG or anyone else imagine Donnie Darko with someone like Seann William Scott in the lead role?

Yeah I agree James. I do like him but it's like in The Untouchables he's there running around with a Scotish accent and that Garcia blokes calls him something like "An ignorant Irish pig" LMAO.

That's the whole point of casting though Juboy. You have to match the actor to the role because no actor can play all roles.

Another American Pie actor, how about Chris Owen (The Sherminator) as The Terminator

"I'm a sophisticated sex robot sent back through time, to change the future for one lucky lady."

Utterly inspired! I want to see the Donnie Darko spoof with Seann William Scott as Donnie (I actually think he's very funny) right now!

Al Pacino from the School for Overacting is one of my least favourites who seems to be highly rated by all of the critics.

I totally agree that true casting is about getting the right actor who can be convincing in a given role.

However, a lot of casting is about getting the actor who people actually just want to see because it's a 'name' and who guarantees bums on seats. And that, my friends, is why George Clooney is in Solaris

I've not even heard of Solaris. Is it sci-fi?

I think Clooney's great at the crime stuff. Hated him with a passion prior to From Dusk Til Dawn.

Elizabeth Hurley - she reads her lines like my 8 year old daughter reads a book. Woeful in My Favourite Martian, worse in Austin Powers. If you really want to see how bad she can be, check out the Secrets Of 007 docu on the GoldenEye DVD

Probably one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made, from one of the best sci-fi novels ever written... and now Hollywood is putting George Clooney's bare arse in it. Genius.

They do have to get paid you know, so they do what people will pay them for - the same character.

See Kevin Costner's films (or rather don't)

This is starting to sound like LOTR. I probably won't like it.
