Not being as trendy as Ian, here's my stuffy old top five,
1) City Lights
2) Citizan Kane
3) Being There
4) The Deer Hunter
5) Shawshank Redemption

in case this thread turns into a top ten,
6) Godfather 2
7) Cinema Paradiso
8) Guess who's coming to dinner
9) Il Postino
10) Strangers on a train

I would like to say that the best movies of all time is Crossroads (the one with Britney in it).

This is purely on the basis that I have never seen it or any trailers for it and I have not seen any reviews for it.

The reason for my choice is purely because it was released on DVD near the end of 2002 and is already £5.99!!!

Off to the bargain bucket you go Britney!!!

good god gimli's back!!

my top ten changes all the time but Jaws would have to be number 1 and has been for the last couple of years, cinematic, directorial perfection. I even thought Bruce looked great in it.

Saw an old favourite of mine for the first time on DVD the other day and have now reinstated 'Falling Down' as one of my top 5.

Scarily, I now realise I have two films starring Micheal Douglas in my top 10 (the other being 'The Game'). I must be getting old.

Dr Strangelove is also the favourite of a certain orange haired American lady, who is also a big admirer of Ian J
I also loved the Ladykillers. Brilliant film.

No, I've just come to the conclusion that a top 10 is impossible. It would need to be top 1000. oh yeah. Check out the imdb top 250: all impecable films and all so different. I mean which discerning 'goer could pick Ran over Blade Runner or Vice Versa. Or choosing Patton over Terminator 2. They're all classics. The best thing comes in discovering the hidden gems.
