David Attenborough

I had heard that Alan Titchmarsh is going to be replacing David Attenborough when he retires. Is this true? Has anyone else heard this?

Not unless we pay Attenborough to stay.

First I heard of him retiring. I thought he would go on till he drops. David truly loves his job and the animals I do not think money comes into it. It will be a very sad day when he hangs his boots up.

Alan was on a "Best of Wild 2002-type" show a few nights ago. He introduced each new clip. Not too badly done, but we have to see how he does out in the wild with an angry gorilla or horny sea lion 10 feet away! Might make him wish for Charlie's droopy baps in the garden again.

David is the business!

His Radio 4 series, David Attenborough’s Life Stories, is airing again, and is also being made available as a 20-part series of podcasts

BBC - BBC Radio 4 Programmes - David Attenborough's Life Stories
Series of talks by Sir David Attenborough on the natural histories of creatures and plants from around the world

BBC - Podcasts - David Attenborough’s Life Stories [RSS feed: David Attenborough’s Life Stories]
David Attenborough presents a series of ‘Life Stories’, interweaving fascinating natural histories with his personal reflections and experiences.
In this series 20 subjects including Rats, Humming Birds and Earthworms are explored with characteristic knowledge, warmth and humour.

3-disc BBC Audiobook has also been available to buy since 2009, but not really worth it now

Alan Titchmarsh?? -noooo, give it to someone like Simon King - who, like Attenborough, has a genuine enthusiasm and knowledge for wildlife. If we're talking about narration only, I guess anyone with a distinctive voice, could take over.

^^^^ this is an eight year old thread that I revived just for the podcast post above

Titchmarsh already did do a nature series or two, whilst David is still up to stuff
