Arrow Burn Notice (new US series)

www.usanetwork.com/series/burnnotice
www.imdb.com/title/tt0810788
www.tv.com/show/69107/summary.html

Variety.com's review of pilot - www.variety.com/review/VE1117933954.html

- premiered last night in the US, looks like a feature length pilot (as its 700 MB at the usual places ), and since its USANetwork its bound to be a 4:3 (like Dead Zone and 4400)

Looks like a (possibly light hearted) thriller show about a spy who's given a "burn notice" and so can't come in from the cold. Might be one to keep an eye out for

Re: Burn Notice (new US series)

Gabrielle Anwar's Oirish accent is pretty awful but otherwise a case of ok so far.

Not another playful Hollywood IRA person. After 911 you'd have thought they'd have that s*** in perspective. Almost enough to stop me from watching, hopefully they don't dwell on it. How come no cheery Shining Path senorita?

Re: Burn Notice (new US series)

Really enjoyed this ... very entertaining and good set up at the end for presumably the rest of the series

Hopefully Gabrielle Anwar's input will be kept to a minimum, I agree she was annoying, with an accent that would have been inferior in that Cruise/Kidman flick Far And Away

Engaging lead role/actor in Jeffrey Donovan, and nice to have Bruce Campbell as his mate / washed up ex-spy

EDIT ...
two minute replay clip of the pilot episode: http://video.usanetwork.com/player/?id=124549
preview clip of next episode (airs Thursday): http://video.usanetwork.com/player/?id=125003

Re: Burn Notice (new US series)

Just enjoyed episode 2 ... kind of reminds me of Hustle and The A Team set in the world of a spy gone dark, if that makes any sense

Amusing nod to Sharon Gless' (Michael's mother) famous role too; and Anwar's dodgy accent being dropped as part of the storyline is a bonus

Really do recommend this show, just a pity that USANetwork frames it to the Americans in 4:3 even though its shot in 16:9

Preview clip of next episode (airs Thursday): http://video.usanetwork.com/player/?id=126206

Re: Burn Notice (new US series)

Have to agree, this certainly seems like it might be a grower though, knowing the Yanks, they'll pull it before it has had a chance to build an audience. Fingers crossed they don't. Funny that they have ditched the Blarney, I guess we were not alone to finding it a pain in the ear.

This and John from Cincinatti are about the only things on at the moment, apart from Travelor which will soon end. Weeds is out in August I think and Studio 60 has had it's final curtain. I wonder what else is on its way.

Re: Burn Notice (new US series)

With that dodgy accent it could be that either on seeing the finished pilot, everyone went OM(F)G noooooooooo, or it was deliberate playfulness with the audience, seeing as Anwar's a Brit, she should in theory have realised how bad her accent was, and they just wanted to wrongfoot us in episode 2?

Whatever the reasons, it does seem to be filling a niche, as a "dramedy" alternative to the likes of 24, Alias, and even Prison Break. A bit like Boston Legal is in comparison to more serious legal dramas. I suppose there are also similarities to Monk. Jeffrey Donovan's very good and has great timing. And as I said before, always good to see Bruce Campbell

I understand the show is scheduled for 13 episodes, much like other USA (cable) shows The 4400 and The Dead Zone. Hope its picked up for a second season. The pilot and episode 2 appear to have done well in the cable ratings, with it maintaining its audience from the premiere, and its been said on IMDb and USANetwork forums that episode two improved on the pilot.

Thumbs up Re: Burn Notice (new US series)

finished watching season 1 last night it was pretty good, nothing great, that IRA ladie was sexy in a synthetic sort of way, but the accent was pretty anoying and it kept reverting back to normal in a lot of the later scenes. Also I keep seeying his mother as that phyco she plays in niptuk which kind of ruined things for me.

I hope they build on the strengths of last season. There is so little to watch at the moment that it is great to get a good show like this back.

Agreed...the summer is always light on quality programming...

I think tricia helfer (in all her hotness) is going to play a new handler for him...will be interesting to see where that goes.

Re: Burn Notice (new US series)

A solid opening to season2 with a few changes on the way for the rest of the season, great to see Tricia looking mighty fine.
Is it just me who thinks he iconic red dressed Six is her most unappealing look when compared to her other BSG persona's and now her role as Carla?

Just started watching this show due to being extremely bored. So far I am enjoying what I have seen. Its a little bit cheesy in places and it style reminds me of Dexter (which is good).
