A good friend of mine assured me there will be some hot lesbo action tonight. That will set tongues wagging!

Clever of the BBC to put it up against the football and on the 'other' channel.

I think most of the viewers will assume tonight's episode will have been moved to next week... hmm.

For what it's worth, I think it's fairly obvious and cynical that the BBC are trying to desparately round up some viewers for this show on the promise of (what will be pitifully boring) lesbian action.

Didn't people actually complain it wasn't rude enough last week?

How lame?

Not true !

The program has a great story..so far..and the acting,costumes,script is fantastic !

Its well worth watching, but if youve missed part one..you will not know the story and events leading up to the meeting of the 2 girls.

What a monumental disappointment What an over-hyped waste of time. And this the second episode that was supposed to be the raunchiest, the one that richard and judy were talking about on their show. The talk of the media for the last fortnight. Did anyone of these people actually preview it. Its not even that I've been de-sensitised by hard-core porn on the net etc. An average episode of the Soprano's or Sex in the City is raunchier or more explicit. What was the big deal? The strap on? Christ you only saw a pair of b**bs once in the whole episode?

A waste of a blank tape if you ask me

Was it ever?

The BBC has really taken a lot of people in with this and then disappointed them big time. I've read that even real-life lesbians don't like it.

Where do we apply for a refund of the element of our license fee that went to pay for this, presumably expensive, joke?

I remember the furore that surrounded The Singing Detective and its thrusting buttocks in the woods.
What an ace series that was. BBC drama just ain't the same since Dennis Potter died.

This is national television. Considering you don't see anything much on subscription-only "porn" channels, what exactly were the public expecting to see? Graphic close-ups of young ladies tucking in to a large slice of hair pie?
Do me a favour
False advertising. They'll regret it. Even channel 4's about the gay chaps never showed anything particularly graphic and there was a brief bout of outrage over that even though it was shown at something like 11pm.

The scandalous/sexy tag seems to be wishful thinking on the part of the BBC drama dept

I think good quality drama on the Beeb died along with him, the only thing of note I've seen on the Beeb since was Warriors. Although the less said about Cold Lazarus the better.

As for tipping the velvet or Munching the Oyster as I call it... it's badged as filth but is nothing more than a below average costume drama.

At least I'm happy my license fee went towards Lisa Faulkner's 'cooking' demonstration in 'Spooks'

I saw a pic of her attending some premiere or other last week and I can assure you she's alive and well and looking better than ever!

I have to agree about 'The Singing Detective' but then I'm biased.

I have been enjoying 'Tipping The Velvet' but it really isn't in the same league. A multi faceted, multi layered, multi strand drama which requires a good deal of concentration to fully appreciate just isn't comparable with a pot boiler of a 'me too' costume drama.

If you watch 'tipping the velvet' just for a lesbian thrill, then your best watching a adult xxx video.

I started watching tipping the velvet mainly because of my interest in lesbians, but got interested in the story of the main character 'nan', who finds her sexuality, finds a lover (her first, of any sex), and how she copes with all the forthcoming events.

So if you want a lesbian show, get a xxx video, if you want a story about a young womans life in victorian times then its worth watching or buying on dvd or video.
