Hi MAverick,

I wouldn't get too excited or worried:

Not only are More4 only airing part of Season 5 (namely, episodes 5-13 to 5-17 inclusive this week), but the episodes will be cut-to-hell to remove all the swearing, all of the violence, many of the drugs scenes, and some of the more adult content too.

All in all, not something to be excited about. Hwoever, if More4 start airing Season 6, then I'm going to be really with them, as Channel 4 supposedly lost the rights to air Season 6, at the end of 2006. If they haven't, then once again, C4 have lied to all the Third Watch fans!

Pooch mate saw a post on another forum from the head of programming of Ch4 saying they do not have the rights to show season 6 now So this should pave the way for FX to start reruns

Hi Maverick,

This is what C4 said to all Third Watch fans over on the C4 Forums last summer. They stated that they (C4) had the rights to air Seasons 4, 5 and 6, and that each would be shown once, before the end of December 2006.

As you probably know, C4 lied, as they aired a few episodes from Season 4 (the ones that could be cut and still have some semblance of story left to actually transmit over weekday lunchtimes ). Then they aired most (if not all) of Season 5 (but again, cut to hell), before ending the transmissions completely.

Obviously, and once again as you probably already know, C4 never did air Season 6 at all, and hence me and lots of other Third Watch fans were really looking forward to seeing Seasons 4-6 uncut on FX from the start of 2007.

Sadly, no episodes have been shown at all, and there's still no news on what's going on. The DVD releases don't look like they're going to be progressing much this year, if at all, from 20th Century Fox, so UK fans are kind of being fleeced!

As always, I'll keep pestering (sorry, (I mean gently coaxing) the staff at FX to get the information about when Third Watch will return, but it's going to require lots more patience, I'm afraid.

Re: Third Watch on More 4

How does this compare with ER and NYPD Blue? I've heard a lot of good things about it and I really like both those shows. My one worry would be it might be a bit to much of a soap. ER can lean towards being a soap at times and it is about as far I would ever go in the soap direction. Is Third Watch more or less 'soapy' than ER? Or is it more like NYPD Blue, based around the peoples work more with the personal lives as a long running backround?

Re: Third Watch on More 4

Its more like NYPD imho, I can honestly say it is by far one of the best shows I have seen come from the states, multiple characters, difdferent jobs interwoven, very good unfortunately it ended about 3 years ago in the US but due to CH4 disgraceful way of showing American shows it was never seen properly over here. The only saving grace is that FX will run it hopefully all 6 seasons in a late night slot to show us the uncut versions, if not then it will be the only TV series purchase on DVD I will ever make, so that says something in itself. Come on FX get this show on now

HI,

Next Monday and Tuesday afternoon, on More4, episodes 5-20 and 5-21 are being aired, and then that's it - no more. So, thank goodness, Season 6 isn't being butchered for all the kiddies to watch at 3pm!

More news, as and when I get it!

Re: Third Watch on More 4

Hi,

Just thinking of Third Watch always makes me remember my fav ep, the one that starts with you hearing everybodys thoughts as the camera pans from one to to other. I think this episode also have Carlos and Bosco going to a shrink and has some great lines in it.

They better release a box set of 1 -6 soon and it can sit along side Miami Vice, Homicide and The Wire as my fav shows.

Living in hope for S6 one day.... (might have to try bit torrent)

Re: Third Watch on More 4

the way channel 4 have acted reminds me a bit of u.s. tv who cancel shows left, right and centre.after a few episodes,at the end or midway through a series.they dont care about the people the shows are actually being made for. we dont give a monkeys about you.we've got the rights but we aint showing it.you dont matter.

Re: Third Watch on More 4

Just received this email from FX
Third Watch season which is new to FX will start on Monday 14th May at 6pm. As Channel 4 currently hold the license to seasons 5 and 6 we are unable to air them at present. We expect season 5 to commence in 2008 and season 6 in 2009.

So Season 4 starts on 14th May according to this but its going to be at least another 2 years before final season is shown Thats nearly 5 years after the show was cancelled. Im honestly going to try and get this on DVD from somewhere Im sick of waiting.

Angry Re: Third Watch on More 4

Hi,

This is absolutely awful news! Not only does it appear that FX have lied to viewers (because when I contacted them in 2006, they said that Seasons 4, 5 and 6 would be aired early on in 2007 on FX), but they are now saying that not only can they NOT air Seasons 5 and 6 for another year or two, but that it's going to be aired at 6pm, which means that Seasons 4 and 5 are going to be absolutely cut-to-hell!

Plus, just to rub salt into the wounds, FX claim C4 own the rights to Seasons 5 and 6, whilst C4 claim they don't own the rights to air ANY episodes of "Third Watch" at all (which is what Third Watch fans keep being told by the numpties at C4 HQ)!

I really don't understand what's going on, folks, and for that I can only apologise to all of you! This kind of attitude by TV companies to the general public who keep their channel afloat (by viewing figures), just goes to show that they really don't a) give a damn about us, and b) don't have a clue about their shows or their scheduling!

I think I will get in touch with Fox directly, and see what they say. Hopefully, they will have released all 6 seasons to DVD before then. At least, by that point, all the episodes will be completely uncut, in widescreen (from Season 4 onwards), and DOG-free!

FX has now gone down in my estimation! I really thought they cared about their viewers, and about Third Watch, after C4 bungled it! Obviously not!

Re: Third Watch on More 4

Just had a look at the schedule in May and I really dont know what FX are playing at. Mon-Wed they are showing it at 6pm and 1105pm (presumably uncut), then on Thurs only at 6pm, then on Fri 6pm amd 0205am!!! So Im going to have to set my Sky+ to all of them so I dont miss one

Exclamation Re: Third Watch on More 4

HI Maverick,

This looks like it's going to be a real pain in the butt. Every episode that airs on a Thursday only, at 6pm, will be cut to pieces, which means every fourth out of five episodes, e.g. episodes 4-04 "Crash And Burn", 4-09 "Crime And Punishment (Part 2)", 4-14 "Collateral Damage (Part 1)", and 4-19 "Everybody Lies"!

The rest should hopefully be shown uncut, in the post 11pm or 2am slots. Shame they can't do a Thursday night repeat, or even double-up on the Friday night, with Thursday and Friday night episodes being shown back-to-back!

Let's hope a DVD release for the remaining 5 seasons is out sooner, rather than later! This is soooo frustrating!
