I'm sure you're correct there Groundy, although when it comes down to it, as far as the reality of ICE is concerned, good old fashioned radio/cassette decks are still by far the king of the hill in terms of units actually in cars.
I stand by my statement that as a SINGLE medium it is the most convenient. I agree that most people have recordable tape decks, tape walkmans and inc car tape decks - but MD beats it for convenience and sound.
The people that do have recordable CD, CD walkmans and CD in car decks still face the disadvantage that recordable CDs are more expensive, less flexible in the recording arena are and less easy to carry/store than MD.
Overall, if more peope had adopted the technology (and, let's face it, the mainstream were NEVER going to buy the three necessary MD (home, car and portable) decks) it would be the clear winner in terms of cost, ease of use and practicality.
It didn't help that Sony couldn't get pre-installed MD decks in to new cars. Car makers include CD rather than MD on newer models as they're obviously in cahoots with the service stations that sell those £4.99 compilations CDs
Ahem, anyway, er, Sky's going widescreen? Cool
